Mike Zoellner is a 2007 left handed pitcher/outfielder from St. Augustine HS in San Diego, CA, with a 5'11", 190 lb. frame. He has a strong and durable body that looks like he can eat up some innings. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with solid arm speed. Zoellner has a slow and controlled delivery and finishes his pitches well out front. His fastball topped out at 81 mph with some arm side life, and he mixed in a curveball at 71 mph. Zoellner can spin the breaking ball, but needs to find a consistent release point with the pitch. He projects to throw harder in the future. At the plate he is a left handed hitter with a straight away stance. Zoellner has quiet hands with a simple, line drive approach with some present raw power and strength in his swing. He has a good idea of the strike zone and doesn't chase bad pitches. Defensively he has good arm speed and arm strength with online throws. Zoellner is a solid two-way prospect.
