Denver Chavez is a 2008 MIF with a 5'6'', 160 lb. frame from Santa Barbara, CA, who attends Santa Barbara HS. Named to the Top Prospect Team. Chavez has a lean and athletic frame with lively body. He is an exciting player to watch. Chavez has good speed and quickness in the field and on the bases that allows him to steal bases. He is a very aggressive base runner with great instincts. Defensively he has good actions with fluid movements and smooth footwork that allows him to cover a great deal of ground. Chavez has soft hands and a quick release. At the plate he is a legitimate switch hitter with good bat speed from both sides. He has an aggressive approach, yet has a simple swing. Chavez is a contact hitter with a line drive swing plane. He uses the entire field and has the ability to be a top of the order hitter at the next level. He is also a good student.
