2006 Mid-Atlantic Underclass Showcase
Sammy Serafine is a 2009 MIF/RHP that attends Greenbrier Christian Academy and resides in Chesapeake, VA with a 5'8", 140 lb. frame. Sammy has a lean athletic build and showed off good all-around athletic ability. At the plate Sammy has a good approach where he keeps his hands inside the ball and drives the ball with his quick wrists. Defensively Sammy was very impressive in the field. He has clean actions and is quick to the ball with a nice release. His upside in the field is high and he should only get better as his arm gets stronger. On the mound Sammy throws from a low 3/4 arm slot with a long easy arm action. He is a low effort pitcher that stays around the plate and has good run on his fastball. Sammy shows a tight 10 to 4 CB and should only throw harder once his mechanics improve. Sammy is a player that will attract the attention from many mid to high-level college programs.
