Derek Fairchild is a 2007 MIF/RHP/OF from Saline HS in Saline, MI with a 5'10", 160 lb. frame. Derek has a lean athletic build with room to fill out. At the plate Derek is a solid contact hitter with fairly good pop in his bat. His swing will get a little long at times and he needs to work on keeping his hands inside the ball. In the field Derek shows good hands and a solid release on his throws. He looks like a player that could play third or second base at the next level. On the mound Derek throws from a 3/4 slot with a long arm circle. He has good cut on his fastball and a big sweeping breaking ball. Derek looks like a player that will play a player that many smaller colleges will take notice of.
