Cameron Brooks is a 2008 MIF/OF with a 6'0'', 165 lb. frame from Las Vegas NV, who attends Spring Valley HS. He has a lean, wiry strong body type and moved athletically on the field. Brooks is the type of young player that may not stand out among some of his more advanced peers right now, but given a year or so, he will catch up to and pass many of them. Switch-hitting middle infielders who can run a bit and can play good defense are usually valued prospects. Brooks fits that description. He is sound in all phases of the game and will only get better. Offensively he showed good contact skills from both sides of the plate and sprayed the ball around the yard. His hands work well and he showed good bat control. Defensively Brooks played well at shortstop. He has good hands, showed some range and has a good release that makes up for below average raw arm strength for a shortstop. Brooks is an outstanding student and talented player that colleges should get on now before he blows up later in the year.
