Casey Barnes is a 2006 RHP/IF from Corona del Sol HS in Chandler, AZ, with a 5'11", 145 lb. frame. He is an athletic and lean kid with some quick and smooth actions on defense. Barnes made several good plays, including one in the hole to his backhand, and he came up and made an accurate throw to first base. Barnes has good hands and footwork to play the middle positions and contribute in a major way on the field. Offensively he is a contact type hitter with the ability to recognize pitches and stay balanced throughout his swing. He has line drive ability and will use the whole field to spread out the defense. On the mound he has a loose arm with good arm action, and stays balanced in his delivery. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot and his fastball topped out at 83 mph with some arm side life. His best pitch was a sharp breaking ball at 65 mph when he stayed on top of the pitch. Barnes also has feel for his change up with good arm action at 67 mph. Barnes is a solid follow, and is a good student as well.
