2005 Ohio Valley Top Prospect
Brett Bivens is a 2006 MIF/3B from Lakeview HS in Battle Creek, MI, with a strong and athletic 6'0'', 175 lb. frame. Bivens ran the 60 in 7.31 and threw 80 mph during infield drills. Bivens is a polished defensive middle infielder with smooth actions, quick transfers and good arm strength. He showed good flexability and balance moving in either direction and made all the plays. Offensively, Bivens is a switch hitter with a quick, contact oriented stroke. He hit the ball consistently hard to the middle and opposite fields from both sides of the plate and showed gappower potential. He can handle the bat head and looks like a high contact, high average type of hitter. We liked Bivens approach to the game, he's a hard nosed hustling type of player who plays the game hard and will maximize his ability. Bivens is also a very good student off the field.
