One thing we’re beginning to appreciate about Lentz is that he’s a "game" player whose skills are much better evaluated in live competition. He can look a bit stiff in all areas of the game during workouts but when there are umpires on the field instead of scouts, he’s a different player. Lentz’s approach at the plate is very polished and professional from the left side. He hits from a slightly open stance and has the ability to drive the ball hard to all fields and we’ve seen him hit some balls out of big parks when he turns on it. Lentz has average game speed and ran 4.2 down to first in Fort Myers. Defensively, we’re glad to see Lentz settled down at second base, where his bat will be a big plus. He’s not going to be a spectacular defensive infielder but he made all the plays and performed with confidence. Lentz has signed to attend U. of Washington. Scouts really need to look at his bat carefully.
