2006 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
Trent Franzago is a 2007 RHP with a 6'1'', 165 lb. frame from Byron GA, who attends Peach County HS. He has a lean and loose athletic body with plenty of physical projection. Franzago has good balanced pitching mechanics with good use of his lower half in his delivery. He throws with medium effort from a 3/4's release point. Franzago threw 86-91 mph on his fastball and pitched mostly at 89 mph. His fastball is "light" and pretty straight and getting more movement on this pitch at the next level will be something that Franzago has to work on. His best pitch was a hard breaking ball that he threw between 74 and 81 mph. The lower velocities were more of a get me over type curveball but when Franzago threw it 78-81 mph it had a sharp slider break and good 2-plane action. Franzago threw a lot of these sliders and had more confidence in it than in his fastball. It's a potential plus pitch in the future. Fanzago mixed in a few change ups. He showed solid command of all his stuff and competed well. Franzago has two pro level pitches right now and is still projectable. He's a top level prospect.
