Kenny Miramontes is a 2006 MIF from Eastlake HS in Chula Vista, CA, with a 5'9", 150 lb. frame. He was named to the top prospect team at the event. Miramontes is a lively, athletic kid with good actions and aggressive defensive play. He knows what he is doing at shortstop with smooth, quick feet and sure hands with a short on-line release to the target. He has a small frame and lean build, but he has the capability to add more strength to the quickness he brings to the game and enhance his overall game. Offensively he is a good contact type hitter that can put the barrel on the ball, and has good pitch recognition. He stays balanced in his approach with a simple contact swing. Miramontes can get out of the box quickly and down the line. His quick first step helps him get good jumps both in the field and on the bases. Miramontes projects as a good college player at a higher end program that could be a major impact at that level.
