2004 South Top Prospect Showcase
Landry Odom is a physically strong 6'1/208 2005 left handed hitting first baseman who plays at a small 2A school in rural Shallowater, TX. His lack of experience at this level was evident, but Odom showed some serious raw bat speed, and power potential that makes him interesting to follow for JC coaches and other colleges. Odom also showed some adjustability with his hands staying inside the ball and going the opposite way. What stood out about Odom is that this young man is a real leader. The coach for his showcase team, who is a college coach himself, said that Odom was unquestionably the assistant coach from the first day and was a joy to have on the bench both for him and for Odom’s teammates. His best years are ahead of him.
