2006 Nor Cal Underclass Showcase
Mitchell Plank is a 2009 1B/OF/3B with a 6'0'', 165 lb. frame from Cupertino CA, who attends Archbishop Mitty HS. He is a nice looking corner position prospect, with some upside with the bat. Plank has a lanky, rangy build that is easily projectable. He has broad shoulders and long limbs, hinting at the potential for a strong, leveraged type swing someday. At the plate his hands work easily and the drives through contact well. Plank is able to whip the bat head through the zone, with accelerating bat speed through contact. He consistently made good barrel contact. He has projectable power that should play at the college level and then possibly beyond. Around the bag at 1st he showed good footwork and solid hands. He made accurate throws and overall is a sound defensive player. He has a chance to really come on by the end of his senior year and be a highly sought after college hitting prospect.
