2003 South Top Prospect Showcase
Colton Kelley is a third baseman who showed particularly well on the mound. With the bat he appeared to make lots of adjustments and got himself out on the front foot early. He did display good hitting ability though. His arm plays in the field but on the mound he showed a lot more potential. He used a high three quarters arm slot and his arm worked well in a low effort delivery. His mechanics were solid and he looked comfortable as a pitcher. He threw an 81-84 mph fastball and a 65-67 mph curve. Both pitches come out of his hand nice and clean. He's a strong 6'0/190 and time will tell if he develops more as an infielder or a pitcher at the next level. Right now he has a chance either way.
