2007 California Underclass Showcase
Chuck Brown is a 2008 OF/MIF with a 5'10'', 185 lb. frame from San Diego CA, who attends Kearny HS. He has a strong, compact, and athletic build that looks like a football body. Brown is pretty raw but has enough athleticism and competitiveness to succeed at the college level. Nothing he does is particularly pretty but he can react to the game. Brown has a short swing and a contact hit approach to hitting. He looked late on pitches at times but he was able to still get the barrel on the ball. His hand-eye coordination is pretty good and his hand speed gives him a chance. It is an unorthodox approach and swing, but he is aggressive and does battle. He even showed a little pop. Brown runs well underway and should be able to cover balls in the gaps when playing left field. His arm will limit him to left field. Brown is a very strong student.
