2007 Pitcher/Catcher Indoor Showcase
Ryan Garman is a 2007 RHP/3B with a 5'11'', 185 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids IA, who attends Jefferson HS. He has a mature, live athletic build. Garman has a tall, well paced delivery that he repeats well. He throws his front side open early trying to create more torque to home plate and has a long, extended 3/4's release on his fastball as his arm comes through. Garman's fastball was very consistent at 81-82 mph and he spotted the ball well low in the strike zone. His slider was a very good pitch for him, with consistent spin and a sharp wide break across the plate. Like his fastball, Garman controlled his slider well down in the zone. Garman will have to make adjustments at the next level with his slider when the hitters get better; he tips it by shortening his arm action and changing his release point from his fastball. Garman is a good all around athlete who can swing the bat, too. He makes solid contact with a level, line drive type of swing and has good bat speed. He is a good student off the field.
