LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2006 National Showcase
Jonathan Kaskow is a 2007 switch-hitting corner infielder from Coppell HS, residing in Coppell, TX. He has a long and strong build and a plus 6'4" 210 lb. frame that is going to keep on getting stronger as he continues to fill out. Kaskow kept on performing and grabbing the attention of the PG scouting staff all showcase and was eventually ranked #31 among PG National Top 100 position players. His name is now a regular when talking about the players in the '07 class that have a chance to really move up the draft lists. His overall skill set seems tailor made for the pro game and he still has development ahead of him. Kaskow can hit from both sides of the plate and would be a prospect if he were just a left or right hand hitter. He moves to another level of prospect as a switch-hitter. From the left side he showed very good hands and a relaxed set-up, and just looks like he can hit. He consistently got the barrel to the ball on time, showing good bat speed and an easy swing, while producing easy power. That is an awful lot he does well and easily so. From the right side he sprayed the ball well. Basically it was the same easy swing, with good timing. He was hitting line drives with power from the right side. He was one of the top overall hitters in terms of present day ability but is even better in a projection sense. In the field Kaskow showed a good arm and nice hands. His feet worked well and he showed himself to be a solid corner infielder, at either side. To get his switch-hitting bat at the 3rd base position would be very attractive. Kaskow ran 4.61 home/1st with a 7.26 60 yard time. With a big spring he could vault up the draft lists and find himself in the top few rounds and even with just a good spring he still should be considered a highly valued prospect.
