John Tucker is a 2015 C/3B/RHP with a 6-0 205 lb. frame from Houston, TX who attends Memorial HS. Very strong physical build. Right handed hitter, hits from a crouched stance with an early shift to his front side, best swings and contact are when he stays back and lets the ball travel, has present bat speed with a line drive swing plane, shows gap to gap power and the ability to drive the ball, next level hitting tools. Very quick release behind the plate, can throw from multiple arm angles with accuracy, 2.01 best pop time, shows same type of quick release when playing third base with good carry on his throws, solid overall catching mechanics and athleticism. Also pitched, compact arm action with a tight high 3/4's prototypical catcher's release, fastball to 77 mph, soft slider with occasional depth, threw strikes and made hitters swing the bats. Outstanding student.
