Jonathan Mays is a 2015 RHP/OF with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Magnolia, TX who attends Magnolia West HS. Slender young build, lots of room to get stronger. Leg raise delivery, stays over rubber well, accelerates hard to the plate, drop and drive delivery, 3/4's arm slot, deep arm circle in back. Fastball topped at 85 mph, worked steadily at 82-83 with good command of the lower portion of the zone. Curveball flashed hard spin and bite with deep 2-plane shape at times, mechanics more inconsistent on curveball than fastball. Nice change up with hard sinking action, might be split type grip, used as his out pitch at times. Has the pitches and an idea how to pitch, will improve with strength and consistency. Right handed hitter, has quick hands and some raw bat speed, swings hard and makes hard pull contact. Good student.
