Gabriel Perez is a 2007 SS/2B with a 5'8'', 140 lb. frame from Brandon FL, who attends Armwood HS. He looks shorter than his listed height. Perez has excellent speed and quickness which makes him especially valuable defensively. He has very good range and soft hands when he gets to the ball. Perez showed the ability to make off balance throws from different release point and make accurate throws. He profiles at second base at the next level. Offensively, Perez hits from a no load/no stride approach. He shows quick wrists and can square up on balls with a short, aggressive swing. Some sort of trigger to get his bat going would help him even more. Perez is an aggressive player on both sides of the ball who plays to win. He is an excellent student.
