Tanner Rust is a 2009 C/SS/3B with a 6'2'', 190 lb. frame from Lakeside, CA, who attends El Capitan HS. Named to the Top Prospect Team. Rust is a young player with a good frame that is projectable. Defensively he has quickness behind the plate that allows him to block balls in the dirt very well. He is very accurate on his throws to second base at 74 mph. Rust also showed position flexibility by making very good plays at 3B as well. At the plate he is a switch hitter who hits from a wider base with a toe tap trigger and a good hand load. Rust is an aggressive hitter with a line drive swing plane. He has bat speed through the hitting zone with solid swing mechanics. He uses his lower half well in his swing, and he has a nice approach for a 2009 player. He is a legitimate switch hitter who hits the ball to all fields. He is a good student as well.
