Austin Covers is a 2014 OF/LHP with a 6-3 168 lb. frame from Crystal Lake, IL who attends Prairie Ridge. Covers has a medium sized frame with a long lean build. Defensively he has solid footwork to the baseball with good outfield actions. He has some arm strength with some carry on his throws. At the plate, Covers starts with a slightly open upright stance. He has a narrow base and uses a short stride. He has a rotational swing and swings on a line drive plane. Covers is short to the baseball and gets extension at contact. He made solid contact to the pullside and showed some lift as well. Covers pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a long loose arm action. He throws an 11/5 curveball at 69 MPH and a tight slider at 72 MPH. Very good student.
