2003 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Hatanaka is an "04" OF/1B from Ontario. At 6'0/187 he is has a strong athletic body. He ran pretty good in CR, but threw better from the outfield the last time we saw him. His arm could have been sore or tired. He is fairly raw, but shows outstanding hitting potential. He might be better yet if he didn't point his back toe at the catcher. He has excellent power potential and he really smoked a few in CR. He got one nice hit off a good Jeremy Hellickson curve ball. There may be others with more polish to their game, but not the same potential as Hatanaka (that's with 5 A's) Bobby is an outstanding student with a 4.0 GPA and a 1350 SAT.
