Nick Rhodes is a 2007 right handed pitcher/infielder from Lufkin, TX with a stocky build, strong shoulders and a thick lower body at 5'10", 175 pounds. He throws from a H ¾ to overhand arm slot with a quick compact delivery that shows some effort. His arm works well and he has a clean delivery. His fastball topped out at 87 mph and showed arm side life with occasional ride up in the zone. His curveball showed a 12-6 break with tight spin and occasional depth at 70 mph. His out pitch was a 67 mph knuckleball with little rotation and occasional late sink. He also showed decent feel for a 74 mph change with slight downward action and good arm speed. He showed good command of 4 pitches. He hits with no load and a long stride and he showed decent pop to all fields. Defensively, he showed good arm strength at 83 mph with good accuracy. Nick knows how to pitch and he is a definite prospect to follow for 2007.
