Darryl Smith is a 2013 LHP/1B with a 5-11 165 lb. frame from Nederland, TX who attends Nederland HS. Medium slender build, developing strength. High leg lift delivery, stays back and on line, 3/4's release slot, long extended arm action, solid overall mechanics. Low 70's fastball, topped at 72 mph, gets good sink at times, some feel for change up, soft curveball spin at 63 mph, throws consistent strikes. Arm and delivery work well, will improve with additional arm strength. Left handed hitter, simple swing mechanics, spray line drive contact. Shows good actions and footwork defensively at first base, quick release on throws. Good student.
