Shane Chafa is a 2012 RHP/OF with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Johnston, IA who attends Johnston. Medium frame athlete with room to fill. Pitches form high 3/4 arm slot with deception in delivery and efforty arm action. Hides the ball well. Fastball sat high 70s, up to 79. Curveball had 12/6 break and good depth. Straight changeup is developing #3 pitch. Good control of all three. Clean arm action from OF, ball comes out well, good fielding tools. Right-handed hitter with rotational swing at the plate. Good swing plane with easy swing and line drive approach. Easy hard contact to the opposite field. Very good student.
