2004 South Top Prospect Showcase
Sam Duran is a 2005 right handed hitting catcher from El Paso, TX. Duran really charmed and impressed the staff by the end of the showcase in Waco. This young man is a very hard worker with some very good baseball skills that you grow to appreciate the more you watch him. He handled top prospect pitchers such as Samuel Elam with no problem, blocked pitches without fear, put every throw near the bag and hit around .500 during the three showcase games. Duran obviously loves to play baseball and knows how. If he continues to work on his conditioning, he has the skills to keep playing at a good college level somewhere.
