2005 Ohio Valley Top Prospect
Mark Pauwels Jr. is a 2006 LHP/OF from Algonac HS in Fair Haven, MI, with a 5'9'', 164 lb. frame. He throws from a high 3/4's arm slot with a full hip turn and a good clean, on line delivery. Pauwels fastball was in the 76-78 mph range with some sinking action at the plate. His curveball was an effective pitch at 65 mph with tight spin and good 2-plane downer bite. Pauwels challenged hitters aggressively and threw strikes. He also showed some prospect tools as a left handed hitting outfielder. Pauwels had good speed in the 60 at 7.28 and ran the bases aggressively. Pauwels showed his arm strength well from the outfield and showed bat speed with a line drive, opposite field approach at the plate. He's a good all around player with lots of baseball skills and he knows how to play the game. Pauwels is also a very good student.
