2005 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Andrew Stevens is a 6-3, 200 lb senior right handed pitcher from Canada with a good frame and some present strength. He has a long, extended takeaway with his right arm, with his palm up and arm straight. Stevens fastball was 80-82 mph with very consistent cutting action, almost like a slider on every pitch. He pitched away from right handers virtually 100% of the time and had them reaching for the ball. Stevens threw a slurve type breaking ball at 67-73 mph that was very sharp at the higher velocities and a good compliment to his cut fastball. It looks like he could be very effective against right handed hitters, especially out of the bullpen for one look.
