2005 Sunshine West Showcase
Jimmy Duffy is a 2006 catcher from Silverado HS in Las Vegas, NV, with a 6'2", 205 lb. frame, and was named to the Top Prospect Team. Defensively he has a strong arm with very good accuracy. His pop times were very good with a 1.94 as his best, but he could improve those times with quicker feet. As good as he is defensively, his bat is his best tool. Duffy hits from an open stance with a good hand load, and he closes well at contact. He has present strength in his swing and the ball jumps off his bat, and he shows present raw power. During the showcase games he hit the ball hard all over the field, and hit several home runs during batting practice. Like many young hitters his weakness is breaking balls low and away. Once he learns to drive those balls to the opposite field, he will be a complete hitter who will hit with power and for a high average. He is a must follow, and is a very good student.
