2004 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
OF/2B Jake Dooley: Dooley is an angular junior who opened some eyes during the Spring League season with his power potential. He hit a couple of home runs with wood over the right center field fence at Carroll Stadium and anytime you can hit the ball 375 feet or so with wood to the opposite field in 45 degree weather, you have some power. If he can add some strength to his 6-1, 170 lb frame, Dooley is just going to hit them farther. Dooley has a tendency to pull off with his front side and this hurts him at times, such as when he was trying too hard to drive the ball at the Spring Showcase. Dooley has played some second base during league play but his best position down the road will be at a corner outfield spot. Upper Midwest college coaches should take note of this young player’s bat and power potential. Dooley is a good student and a good makeup player as well.
