Jake Johnson is a 6'3" right handed pitcher from North Wilkesboro, NC, with long, lean arms and legs and not a lot of present strength. He projects to gain a lot of strength in the future. Johnson has a smooth, easy wind up with good tempo to it, although he falls off a bit on release. His fastball was primarily in the 77-78 mph range through three innings of shutout work at the showcase. Johnson’s curveball was 62-64 mph and he did a good job of putting it in the strike zone. Good control and command, he has a good feel for pitching. Jake is an outstanding student.
