Hunter Nakano is a 2009 MIF with a 5'10'', 140 lb. frame from Rancho Palos Verdes, CA who attends Palos Verdes Peninsula HS. He has a wiry body type and a thin frame. Nakano is a talented player, particularly on the defensive side of the game. He plays athletically and is a playmaker. His hands are exceptional on defense, at any level of the game. He plays defense with feel and confidence. Presently he needs to be considered a 2nd baseman until he develops a stronger arm, which likely will happen since he is only 140 lbs. Watch him play defense for an entire game and you are likely to see him make a play that you normally only see in the big leagues. Offensively he has good fundamentals and a nice swing. Nakano is a contact hitter with a nice swing. He stays inside the ball well and has timing. Those magic hands work with the bat too. Nakano is disciplined too, showing the ability to hit where he is pitched. A college that gives him an opportunity will look very good in a couple of years when he gets stronger because strength is all that he is missing.
