Glenn Gray is a 2006 OF from Scripps Ranch HS, residing in San Diego, CA, with a 5'10", 170 lb. frame. He has a strong, compact build; a good baseball body with strength in his lower half and flexibility in his upper half. Gray's most outstanding ability is that he can hit. He hits from a closed stance and has an excellent pre-pitch load of his hands. He creates rhythm and is in good position to hit when the ball is in the hitting zone. Gray has a flat, line drive swing and creates some backspin that suggests a number of doubles and some home runs are in his future. He has good balance, very good bat speed, and aggressive swing, with a bat that stays in zone well. Gray is quick to the inner half and makes consistent barrel contact. He has present gap power that will continue to increase. In time some of his mistakes will leave the yard. Gray also has an excellent defensive approach to the ball and is an above average left fielder. He makes low arc throws and has a good release. He makes one-hop and accurate throws, showing good arm speed. Gray is an excellent student that can hit and play defense. He is a D1 player that has slipped through the cracks to this point. His college career very well could lead him to a career beyond college.
