He had already peaked over 120 pitches going into the 10th, with Boyd and Bryant in the bullpen Yeskie had no reason to leave Child in there...tsk tsk

Bryant had already thrown a ton the previous two days and he's been awful for a while now. Boyd wasn't available. He has the stomach flu. Child said he was good and had a lot left in the tank for the 10th. Was hitting 95 on the gun. Casey has rarely thrown Child over 105 pitches this season. I had no problem with the move. The bullpen is bad, Child was cruising. He was a beast.

Bet you guys are glad to get out of SLC. That ute team scrapped with guys pretty well. That was really a hard luck series for them.. I think they may have played better than the two losses they earned. Ducks keep rolling.. Sherfy has to have a certain uh oh level, then he puts the pedal to the metal. He was just flat out nasty again today for his 15th save. I wonder what the pac 12 save single season record is.. He has got to be getting close. Payne has been a nice surprise.. I now know why pulfer left.. Way everyone on the top is playing, we probably need to get 44 or 45 wins to get a national seed.

College Baseball Poll - Collegiate Baseball Newspaper
PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release: Monday (May 14, 2012)
OREGON NO. 1 IN COLLEGIATE BASEBALL NEWSPAPER POLL
TUCSON, Ariz. — Oregon (37-14) has been ranked No. 1 in the latest Collegiate Baseball newspaper NCAA Division I baseball poll.
The Ducks, winners of 10 of their last 11 games and ranked sixth last week, vaulted to the top spot after previously No. 1 Florida St. went 1-3 last week as did No. 2 Baylor. None of the top six teams from last week went unbeaten except Oregon.
The Ducks, which lead the Pac-12 Conference with an 18-8 record, have a superb 3.06 ERA and have only allowed opponents 21 stolen bases in 45 attempts this season over 51 games. Last week, Oregon beat Oregon St. and took two from Southern California with game three scheduled for today. The No. 1 ranking for Oregon is believed to be a first in program history, according to Oregon's sports information office.
Poll Notes: In key top 30 games over the past week, Florida St. was beaten by Maryland once, Stetson once and Clemson once. The final two games of the Clemson series are scheduled today. Baylor was swept in a 3-game series by Oklahoma. Florida won two of three against Mississippi St., Kentucky swept a 3-game series against Alabama, Arizona swept a 3-game series at California and Louisville beat St. John's two of three. Several teams have been extremely hot. Utah Valley has the longest winning streak in the nation this season at 32 games. North Carolina has strung together a 9-game winning streak. Two teams fell out of the top 30 in Coastal Carolina (2-2 last week) and Mississippi St. (2-2). Two new teams in the poll are Oklahoma (33-19) and Mississippi (34-18).

Interesting way of justifying a number 1 ranking. Look at baseball america, they justify FSU.. pretty funny if you ask me.
Really, I thin Oregon has the easiest road to a national seed.. And OSU fans, the way your team is playing right now, I would hope you would agree.

Oregon is not the best team in college baseball, period. Don't know the justification for that ranking but with a #5 RPI (not even the highest RPI in the Pac-12...UCLA is #3) they are definitely in the national seed talk but they are not the best team in college baseball. And you can bet after next weekend they'll drop in the RPI no matter what the outcome of the games are. I think Kendall has them right around where they should be, I'd say #4-6 right now.

Yeah- split the extremes and you get 4-6. I think DM used that same poll early in the year.. I laughed and mentioned how wonky that poll is. Example is this week. ESPN coaches was weird as well.

Day four.
  • Oregon 6, USC 3.
    Oregon sweeps series 3-0.
Easiest road to a national seed? They still have to play the Beavers in Corvallis. They must win five of their next eight games. If they do lose three conference games a sweep in the Civil War), Arizona could surpass them as UCLA did OSU last year, and bye-bye Pac-12 crown and automatic national seed. Oregon is still in the cat bird's seat, but there are a dozen teams vying for those national seeds. I wouldn't say Oregon has the easiest road.

Week 13 scores

This was an extremely rare week. There were FIVE sweeps, when typically we see an average of ONE conference sweep per week. If only Oregon State could have done what most people expected, we would have had a first-ever 6-sweep week.

A couple of players, swinging for the fences, struck it big. Here are the scores:
  • 28.0 ASU74
  • 27.0 ConnorOSU
  • 25.0 OpihiMan
  • 25.0 RiverDuck
  • 25.0 MostUnknown
  • 24.0 FullertonBaseballFan
  • 22.0 Duckfan127
  • 22.0 Florida Beaver
  • 20.0 Dodger Matt
  • 19.0 borgguy
  • 19.0 Rowdy
  • 19.0 BeaverBob
  • 18.0 WildCard85
  • 15.0 SouthernBeaver
Nobody correctly picked all six, but the top two scorers got the first four series correct.

No disrespect DM.. I of all people know all about playing the spoiler, and the CW is no exception. I was just stating the fact based on RPI. tournaments.. Sattle could be tough-- The have a better RPI than Utah.. and the Beavs barely escaped SLC with a series win, so not sure. Guess I can't be too greedy. This year has blown all expectations out of the water. I still think Horton is gunning for a job down south. Regardless of the outcome, his stock is at the highest yet.
