Oregon State is 3-3 all-time versus Kansas State.

Here's some stuff from Massey:

OSU KSU
Rating 5 15
Power 6 17
Off 24 8
Def 2 86
Runs/game (For) 5.8 6.5
Runs/game (Agnst) 2.9 4.4
Run differential: 5.1 4.7

Looks like a close 5.1 to 4.7 game.

Some key stats (numbers in parentheses are national rankings):

BA (60) 0.289 0.324 (2)
OBP (51) 0.379 0.408 (9)

ERA (2) 2.18 3.86 (86)
Fdg (49) 0.973 0.975 (34)
DP/G (47) 0.93 0.69 (206)
H alwd/9 inn (1) 6.73 8.90 (92)

Hmm. Hitting (KSU) versus pitching and defense (OSU). I wonder which one will prevail? Of course, when you look at what KSU’s opponents’ pitching was like and compare that to what they’ll face in Corvallis, those batting numbers might come down a bit. Similarly, OSU’s offensive numbers will probably increase, because the pitching they’ve faced has been much better than KSU’s appears to have been.

OSU KSU
BA .290 .325
OBA .209 .261
Predicted .276 .267

ERA 2.18 3.86
Opp ERA 5.37 5.78
ER differential 3.60 1.51

Starting pitchers

Player ERA W-L IP H R BB SO OBA HBP WHIP SWR
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Boyd, Matt 2.20 10-3 114.1 79 31 28 106 0.195 7 1.00 3.79
MaVorhis, Levi 4.05 5-0 53.1 69 30 13 29 0.319 3 1.60 2.23

Moore, Andrew 1.22 13-1 111.0 72 21 23 61 0.192 10 0.95 2.65
Wivinis, Matt 4.84 6-2 74.1 77 47 20 48 0.273 8 1.42 2.40

Wetzler, Ben 1.98 8-1 82.0 66 28 25 72 0.224 5 1.17 2.88
McFadden, Blake 4.04 6-2 55.2 54 26 16 33 0.260 7 1.39 2.06
Each Beaver starter’s ERA is about half his counterpart’s. Ben Wetzler, who was injured and didn’t get many decisions early, is the only Beaver who does not have more wins as all KSU’s starters have decisions. KSU’s starters don’t appear to last very long...maybe 5 innings. The Beaver starters have allowed individually about the same number of runs (Boyd and Wetzler) or collectively 23 runs FEWER (80 runs to KSU’s 103), despite the fact that they have pitched 307 innings to the KSU starters’ 183 innings (about 60% of what OSU’s starters pitched). Looking at walks and hits per inning, Oregon State is probably only going to allow about 9 base runners per game, whereas K State’s starters will allow 13 to 15.

The question is, will Ben Wetzler get a chance to pitch this weekend?

Well getting 13-15 base runners for OSU would be good. Up until our last game, getting more than 2 of those runners home was a problem. I hope it won't be so Saturday and Sunday.

honestly I don't think so, unless Matt or Andrew have a bad day. Those two when they are on their game are damn near unhittable. And I have said several times I will take good pitching over good hitting

There are several ways to slice this pire, but here’s the Summary: Overall, Kansas State has superior batting numbers, and as a team lead the Beavers in virtually every offensve category. Now let’s look at the particulars.

KSU Fisher, Austin .364
OSU Davis, Dylan .349
KSU Conlon, Shane .348

KSU King, Jared .332
KSU Santigate, RJ .329
OSU Conforto, Michael .326

KSU DeBord, Blair .415

KSU Davis, Jon .500
KSU Kivett, Ross .488
OSU Hayes, Danny .413
OSU Keyes, Kavin .410

I'd go for Moore, Boyd, and Wetzler.

I know I'm going to hear from the Beaver fans but I'd kind of like to see our rotation be Moore, Wetzler, and Boyd in that order. Boyd has been a little off lately....Wetzler and Moore are red hot right now.

State of Oregon/SW Washington draft choices. I'm surprised Sherfy went as low as he did.

Sorry guys.. Still realing from last week. I do know losing the supers is harder than a regional loss. UCLA is looking good though. Down year for the PAC IMO.

You've been released for a while RD. Maybe some self imposed hurt.

Lots of pressure for AM. He needs to go the distance. Sorry about Engel. Hope he is OK. Don't want to rub it in.. but OM always has to have his word. I will say it. The beavs bullpen will be the demise of this years team. Hopefully I am proven wrong.. but I see the same thing happening to CSF. All about the teams playing hot now. Could the #3 team in the pac represent in the CWS? Would be a down year if that happens. Go beavs.
