2019 Top Prospects

Jack Chester  RHP - 2019 - Piedmont, OK
Murray State College

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound righthander showed a fastball up to 86 mph with both the frame and clean, loose arm action conducive to much more velocity in the near future. Chester was able to create good angle on his fastball that flashed cutting action and showed a low effort overall delivery. The secondaries were both strong which included a curveball with 11/5 shape that could be thrown for strikes or buried for chases.

Patrick Shearer  RHP - 2019 - Dallas, TX
St. Joseph's

Shearer delivered one of the strongest performances as the righthander showed an explosive fastball and tight spinning curveball. He has a loose and full arm action and works with a quick pace on the hill. Shearer was able to consistently work in the bottom of the strike zone with a low effort delivery that featured very little wasted movement.

Noah Thompson  OF - 2019 - Georgetown, TX
Galveston College

Thompson showed very intriguing two-way potential with strong tools as a position player and a pitcher. He showed good athleticism in the outfield to go along with quality present bat speed and excellent power with multiple home runs. Thompson creates deception on the mound from a lower slot with a lot of moving parts and spotted up his fastball well with quality arm side run.

Jonathan "Scout" Sanders  OF - 2019 - Whitesboro, TX
Hill College

Sanders showed advanced defensive skills and versatility impressing both in the infield and the outfield. The arm strength plays well from both positions and showed smooth, easy actions while turning in one of the best outfield rounds from the event. He was also under control and balanced throughout infield drills. The swing projects very well for Sanders with an easy, fluid swing with a direct hand path and naturally lofted swing plane.

Jordan Fay  3B - 2019 - Waxahachie, TX

Another two-way prospect, Fay showed a strong feel for hitting to go along with an expertly commanded fastball. He attacked hitters with his fastball up to 85 mph and was able to create good downhill plane to both sides of the plate thanks, in part, to his over the top arm slot. Fay is able to impact the ball well with strength through the point of contact and the simple swing and easy trigger allowed him to find barrel most of the time.

Creighton Hansen  RHP - 2019 - Grapevine, TX

Hansen was outstanding during his time on the mound as he worked up to 85 mph. He did a good job at pounding the lower third of the strike zone and the ball comes out of the hand very clean. The fastball had heaviness to it when located low in the zone and he incorporated his lower half well with a drop and drive mechanic; three pitches for strikes which included a changeup that flashed fade to the arm side.

Nick Crespo  C - 2019 - Alpine, TX
Texas San Antonio/Western Texas College

Crespo showed high-level catch and throw skills with excellent arm strength and explosive lower half mechanics behind the plate. He is a very polished receiver with strong, accurate throws which included a 1.94 pop time and 80 mph throws. Crespo has good balance and bat speed at the plate culminating in hard contact; his arm strength also played well on the mound where he attacked hitters with his fastball.

Zack Swindell  SS - 2019 - Lubbock, TX
Midland University

Swindell put his defensive tools on display with one of the best rounds at shortstop. He has quick twitch athleticism that allows him to range well to both sides with clean gathers and releases; the footwork was very good and he has the arm strength to make all the throws. Swindell's strength played well at the plate with multiple home runs and the 6-foot-2, 190-pound shortstop projects for more as well.

Chance Roberts  C - 2019 - Aledo, TX

Turning in the highest outfield velocity of the showcase was Roberts as the primary catcher was recorded up to 90 mph. Roberts showed soft hands with a quick, accurate arm behind the plate but was very good from the outfield where he funneled well through his mechanics and was able to deliver strong, accurate throws with carry.

Ty Mongo  OF - 2019 - Lantana, TX
Hill College

One of the carrying tools for Mongo's profile is his speed and athleticism and he turned in a showcase-best 60-yard dash time of 6.73. The twitchy primary middle infielder is a versatile prospect and can perform well both in the infield and outfield. He showed good footwork and smooth actions at both positions and projects very well.

Brayden Johnson  OF - 2019 - Longview, TX
Prairie View A&M

Johnson showed an excellent overall feel for the game as he showed projectable tools at nearly every aspect. The arm strength plays well from the outfield and he has a very high ceiling on the mound. Johnson showed a multitude of different pitches from a fast arm with the ability to manipulate spin; the slider was very interesting as it flashed hard tilt and late bite. He also showed good power potential at the plate.

Parker McDonough  OF - 2019 - Katy, TX

McDonough is another very athletic player who impressed at nearly all aspects of the game. The 5-foot-11, 165-pound primary outfielder showed off solid arm strength in the outfield and a loose, fluid swing at the dish. McDonough showed present bat speed with good hip torque to create power. He has a quick tempo on the mound while using a strong two-pitch mix of fastball and slider.

Michelle Artzberger  LHP - 2019 - Lawton, OK

Artzberger had a strong start on the mound as he showed good athleticism to repeat his delivery along with a three-pitch mix. The fastball showed good cut to it and was a weapon against batters of the opposite handedness while the breaking ball had big 1/7 break and shape. Artzberger has good arm speed and his shorter arm action allowed for some deception.

Cameron Dayton  LHP - 2019 - Round Rock, TX

Dayton has a strong 6-foot-3, 190-pound frame and projects very well both at the plate and on the mound. The lefthanded hitter showed a direct path to the baseball from a slightly lofted swing plane and leveraged the ball to the pull side well; he showed good life to his fastball on the mound and is an interesting prospect to monitor.

Christopher Dickens  RHP - 2019 - Wichita Falls, TX
Seminole State College

Dickens has a very physical frame with good strength throughout and that allows him to attack the ball with good jump off the barrel. He has an inside hand path with a line drive swing plane and turned the barrel over well. He also showed good arm strength on the mound with a fastball up to 84 mph. Dickens worked with a long arm action and a tight spinning curveball.

Brek Galbreath  RHP - 2019 - Joshua, TX

Galbreath possessed an advanced repertoire on the mound with a good feel to manipulate spin. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound righthander has good present physicality and strength which culminated in a low-80s fastball. The arm action was long through the back and he showed a good breaking ball for swings and misses with two strikes. He also had a loose swing at the plate with a gap-to-gap approach.

Andres Martinez  SS - 2019 - Mission, TX

Martinez has a polished overall skill set that allowed him to succeed in various aspects of the game. He is an advanced defender with a good understanding of the position with easy and instinctual actions to complement solid arm strength across. He also turns over the barrel very well with a loose path and good jump off the barrel.

Ethan Rosenberg  C - 2019 - Leander, TX

The arm strength and verstality stand out for Rosenberg with good actions at multiple positions and a fastball up to 85 mph. The 6-foot-, 165-pound switch hitter flashed bat speed from both sides with a loose swing path and the ability to leverage to the pull side. He showed good body control and hand quickness in the infield and while making throws down to second base.

Cameron Thompson  OF - 2019 - Owasso, OK
Oklahoma State

Thompson impressed offensively as one of the top hitters at the event and also showed quality tools on the mound. The physical 6-foot-2, 185-pound first baseman showed excellent strength that translated into home runs and has a line drive-oriented swing path with a quick and easy trigger into the swing. Thompson showed good pitchability on the mound with a ton of strikes and advanced feel for his offspeed pitches.

Joseph Wolf  LHP - 2019 - Argyle, TX
Seward County CC

Wolf showed a very projectable delivery and arm with excellent pitchability and feel for three pitches. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound southpaw has a very loose arm and generates high-level and repeatable arm speed. That played well with his secondary pitches as the curveball showed tight rotation and depth with a changeup that had late sink to it. Wolf was not afraid to pitch backwards and has advanced instincts on the mound.


2020 Top Prospects

Kimble Schuessler  C - 2020 - Llano, TX
Texas A&M

Another explosive backstop, Schuessler turned in the best pop time of the event with a 1.87 recorded time. The arm strength stands out, up to 80 mph, and he has an element of smoothness to his overall mechanics that allow him to go through his mechanics quickly. Schuessler has big power potential with good bat speed and barrel whip; he launched multiple home runs and impacted the ball very hard through the point of contact.

Davis Shackelford  OF - 2020 - Nemo, TX
Weatherford College

The highest velocity of the event belonged to Shackelford as he was able to work his fastball up to 88 mph. The delivery was compact and smooth throughout with good athleticism and feel to repeat. Shackelford showed three pitches which included good feel for a breaking ball and a changeup that flashed and should be thrown more. The bat speed and strength both play very well from the plate to give him upside as a two-way player.

Bo Hogeboom  C - 2020 - Argyle, TX

Hogeboom had a strong overall performance with advanced skills behind the plate and strong switch-hitting ability. Hogeboom displayed quality and quick footrowk with throws that had good carry on them. At the dish he showed good tools form both sides with a quick and clean hand path that resulted in good bat speed from the left side. He also worked on the mound where the arm strength played well.

Dalton Beck  LHP - 2020 - Frisco, TX

Quality two-way players are hard to find, even more so when they are lefthanded. Beck showed a fastball up to 83 mph with a deceptive overall delivery and advanced feel for a breaking ball. The arm projects well through a full path upon release. Beck flashed good bat speed and made a lot of hard contact to the pull side.

Travis Gober  1B - 2020 - Fate, TX
New Orleans

The physical 6-foot-3, 215-pound frame is a highly projectable prospect who showed high-level two-way potential. Gober showed excellent pitchability and overall feel for pitching as he mixed speeds and looks while also locating his pitches well within the strike zone. He has present bat speed and strength with a power-oriented approach as he is looking to lift.

Nathan Norris  OF - 2020 - Frisco, TX
Northeastern State

Norris showed off one of the better skill sets offensively this weekend and projects extremely well at the plate. There is good hand speed in the swing and his hands are in a good position to create a positive launch angle upon contact. Norris is looking to hit home runs and did so during the BP round and also showed interesting potential on the mound.


2021 Top Prospects

Austin Stracener  SS - 2021 - New Braunfels, TX
Texas A&M

Stracener showed advanced feel all over the field which included top-notch defensive skills. He makes easy lateral movements with soft and sure hands and the requisite arm strength that should only improve as he continues to add strength. Stracener was up to 84 mph and showed a feel for three pitches. The offensive profile has plenty of bat speed and fluidity and projects for power as he continues to develop and add strength.

Alec Grossman  RHP - 2021 - Austin, TX
Texas

Grossman showed strong two-way potential with a fastball up to 84 mph and an advanced defensive skill set. The athleticism stands out, a 6.86 runner, and he delivers from a loose arm action and a high three-quarter slot to create sink on his fastball. The athleticism plays well at shortstop as Grossman has very smooth actions and quick hands to go along with solid foundational arm strength.

Hudson White  C - 2021 - Fort Worth, TX
Texas Tech

White showed interesting tools across the board highlighted by his offensive profile. The swing is short and direct to the ball from a loose hand path and allowed him to generate hard hit liners to the pull side. White showed good footwork and actions behind the plate with the requisite athleticism to play shortstop as well.

Keagan Wolfe  OF - 2021 - Belton, TX
Mary Hardin-Baylor

Wolfe impressed from the outfield as he showed the makings of a high-level defender at the position. He works well through the ball with good fluidity to his actions and the throws were accurate with carry across the diamond. Wolfe stays balanced at the plate with a loose path, a lifted swing plane, and a good approach that projects very well.
