2017 Top Prospects

Paxton Wallace  3B - 2017 - Greenbrier, AR
Wichita State

We've seen Wallace many times over the years, including at the 2017 PG National Showcase, and it looks like he's ready for a big senior year. He has very good third base tools defensively, including one of the top infield arms in the country.

Matt Perego  RHP - 2017 - Ballwin, MO
Western Kentucky/John A. Logan College

Perego is a seriously big young man and every bit of his listed 6-8/250. He also has a very strong right arm and was upper 80's from a rotational delivery. His best pitch, though, was a tight mid-70's curveball that was a knee buckler at times. He's signed with Cincinnati.

2018 Top Prospects

Dillon Nowicki  RHP - 2018 - Stoughton, WI
Michigan

Nowicki has a strong 6-2/195 build and an equally strong right arm that produced a fastball up to 90 mph that he spotted well. His best pitch was a mid-70's curveball that had serious spin and tightness and he also threw a few sliders that were quality pitches at 80 mph.

Caden Monke  LHP - 2018 - Mt. Olive, IL
Arkansas

Monke passes the eye test at a long and projectable 6-3/165 and also passes the raw stuff test, with a fastball that topped out at 90 to go with a quality change up and pretty sharp curveball. He's committed to Arkansas.

Nick Schmidt  RHP - 2018 - Wentzville, MO
Missouri State

The 6-3/195 Schmidt is a very good athlete who stood out in drills and batting practice but his future is on the mound. He worked in the upper 80's with his fastball with a nice combination of a sinking change up and a sharp curveball to keep hitters off balance.

Xavier Torres  SS - 2018 - Marietta, GA
Motlow State CC

Torres is an uncommitted senior with all the tools to play at the college level. He's a smooth and polished defensive middle infielder with soft fast hands and a strong throwing arm. His right handed swing is loose and fast with some lift in it.

Zack Hunsicker  RHP - 2018 - Wentzville, MO
University of Central Florida

Hunsicker is a seriously strong young man at 6-5/225 with a strong right arm as well. He was 87-89 mph in the first inning but was more impressive in the second inning with less velocity but a pair of quality breaking balls in his cutter and curveball and better command.

Ben Cruikshank  LHP - 2018 - Fairview Heights, IL
Missouri State

The 6-4/162 Cruikshank has gain 7-8 mph over the last year and is now touching 90 mph from an extended 3/4's release point that creates very good angle to the plate. He has work to do with his mechanics but the improvement and remaining projection is very impressive.

Brett Gonzalez  OF - 2018 - Rolla, MO
Southeast Missouri State

Gonzalez has an extra strong 6-0/212 build but also is a very twitching athlete, with 6.67 speed in the sixty and very quick hands at the plate that can really drive the ball. He also threw 90 mph from the outfield.

Hayden Cooper  3B - 2018 - Wentzville, MO
Tennessee-Martin

Cooper's big tool is his right handed bat speed. He has a long, lean and projectable 6-3/180 build and is going to keep adding to that bat speed as he gets stronger.

Jeffrey Holtz  C - 2018 - Hartland, WI
Indiana

Holtz showed his advanced defensive skills with the ease that he handled right hander Dillon Nowicki, the showcase's top pitching prospect, and the arm strength and footwork he showed in drills. He's a 6-4/205 athlete with the strength to drive the ball to all fields.

Pierce Blohowiak  OF - 2018 - Neenah, WI
Yale

Blohowiak is a quick twitch athlete who has some strength on his 5-11/170 frame and the room for more. He ran the sixty in 6.68 and threw 88 mph from the outfield.

Austin Schultz  SS - 2018 - Adams, NE
Kentucky

Schultz is an outstanding athlete with a strong and compact 5-10/180 build and blazing 6.5 speed in the 60. He projects as a centerfielder in the future.

Zane Alexander  OF - 2018 - Del City, OK
Uncommitted

Alexander stood out in the game with three solid line drive singles and looks to fill a lead off type profile with his high average approach and 6.9 speed. He also graded out as one of the top defensive outfielders in drills.

Corey Hall  OF - 2018 - Champaign, IL
Uncommitted

Hall has a nice projectable 6-1/160 frame and good present athleticism, including 6.9 speed in the sixty and a strong outfield throwing arm. His right handed swing is well balanced and executed and he makes consistent middle of the field line drive contact.

Hezekiah Goodman  LHP - 2018 - Marion, IL
Lindenwood University

Goodman has a strong and burly build and nice and easy pitching mechanics he repeats well. He was up to 86 mph with his fastball to go with a change up/cutter combination that he used often and effectively. How he develops a true curveball or slider will determine his ceiling.

2019 Top Prospects

Cam Cox  OF - 2019 - Hesston, KS
Neosho County CC

Cox's run and throw tools were outstanding, with a 6.67 sixty and 93 mph arm strength and the footwork and fundamentals to go with it. He also showed lots of potential on the mound, with an 84 mph fastball that will pick up velocity and a tight and sharp curveball that is a weapon.

Kurtis Byrne  C - 2019 - Chesterfield, MO
TCU

Byrne stood out for his strong tools defensively, with strong hands receiving the ball, good balance shifting and a very strong throwing arm for a sophomore. He also showed plenty of right handed power at the plate.

Daniel Hammond  RHP - 2019 - Prairie Village, KS
Creighton

Hammond is a lithe and quick 5-11/175 catcher who is athletic enough to play all over the field but will stay at catcher due to his skills there. He's a right handed hitter with a quick swing that produces consistent mid-field line drive contact.

Elijah Dale  SS - 2019 - Saint Louis, MO
Kansas State

Dale is a switching hitting middle infielder with quick hands at the plate and the ability to square the ball up to all fields. He showed very good hands defensively as well, along with the arm strength to top out at 85 mph off the mound with a good slider to give him two-way potential.

Zach Cole  OF - 2019 - Ozark, MO
Uncommitted

Cole stood out for his defensive ability both in the outfield and the infield and for his overall athleticism. How much he keeps improving with the bat and fills out his 6-1/160 frame will go a long way to determining his future.

Brady Betts  RHP - 2019 - Paducah, KY
South Carolina-Upstate

Betts was up to 84 mph on his fastball from a sound directional delivery that should produce solid command in the future. He's a loose and athletic 6-1/165 and will keep gaining velocity as he fills out and gets stronger.

Colin Bergmann  OF - 2019 - Weldon Spring, MO
St. Louis

Bergmann has a nice combination of tools that should continue to improve as he physically matures. He has smooth actions defensive with active and quick feet but his best present tool may be his raw bat speed and ability to drive the ball hard.

Payton Smith  C - 2019 - Topeka, KS
Barton County CC

Along with having a catcher's hard nosed grinding personality, Smith showed very good defensive skills and tools and handled pitcher's with plus stuff very easily. He has plenty of strength to hit and hit with power.

Iyan Pelfree  OF - 2019 - Whiteland, IN
Uncommitted

Pelfree is a strong bodied 6-2/195 right handed hitting outfielder with some bat speed but he might have more potential on the mound. He worked steadily at 82-84 mph with a very nice curveball that was tight and big.

Blayne Yarger  OF - 2019 - Rolla, MO
Jefferson College

Yarger has lots of growing to do to fill out his 6-3/165 frame but he's already throwing 80-83 mph with a loose and quick arm action. His change up was his best secondary pitch and he flashed tight spin with a curveball as well.

2020 Top Prospects

Cayden Wallace  3B - 2020 - Greenbrier, AR
Arkansas

Wallace is a dead ringer for his older brother Wallace both physically and in their basic tool set. And he's three years younger with all that time to keep improving! It would be interesting to see him on the mound at some point as well.

Jorge Figueroa  SS - 2020 - Gurabo, PR
New Mexico/Wabash Valley College

Figueroa has the defensive actions and tools of a much older player, especially in his footwork and his lateral agility to either side. He's also a strong right handed hitter with some present bat speed and more to come as he physically matures.

Edison Ramos  OF - 2020 - Hurst, TX
New Mexico Junior College

Ramos has all the actions of a natural outfielder, with smooth and balanced footwork through the ball, a quick exchange and release and plenty of present arm strength for a freshman. He also has good left handed bat speed with very good barrel control and the ability to hit the ball hard to all fields.

Houston King  OF - 2020 - Cabot, AR
Kentucky

King has a very nice left handed swing, especially for a freshman, and is going to make very consistent barreled up contact. He's also a 6.98 runner already and should eventually end up with a strong throwing arm when he matures.

Drew Stine  OF - 2020 - Wildwood, MO
Louisville

Stine doesn't look like a freshman with a very projectable 6-2/180 frame and he doesn't run like one either, with a 6.74 sixty time to his credit. He was also up to 83 mph on the mound, showing his arm strength as well.

Cade Horton  SS - 2020 - Norman, OK
Oklahoma

Horton has plenty of present athleticism as an infielder and hitter but he was most intriguing on the mound. He worked at 81-83 with a nice curveball and outstanding mechanics that enabled him to spot his pitches beyond his years.

Jackson Fristoe  RHP - 2020 - Paducah, KY
Mississippi State

Fristoe is long and loose for a freshman at 6-3/165 and was up to 83 mph with his fastball, very good velocity. He has some work to do with his mechanics but the potential is there for a very interesting pitcher in the future.

Beau Stuckey  SS - 2020 - Fayetteville, AR
Missouri State

Stuckey has the type of athleticism that will enable him to stay in the middle infield for a long time. He runs the sixty in 6.89 and has a quick first step and smooth footwork on defense. He also shows some power potential in his right handed bat.

Blake Leadford  LHP - 2020 - O'Fallon, MO
Uncommitted

Leadford is listed at a very believable 5-9/125 now and only threw in the mid to upper 70's with his fastball but it's just a matter of time before that changes. He's a mature southpaw with a nice curveball and the ability to pitch.

2021 Top Prospects

Keegan Allen  RHP - 2021 - Rogers, AR
West Virginia

Only an eighth grader, Allen stood out for his overall athleticism, which showed best both on defense in his actions and in his arm strength from the outfield and from the mound. It was especially impressive to see a pitcher than age with three present pitches, including an outstanding change up.

Payton Allen  SS - 2021 - Rogers, AR
University of Houston

The Allen twins are identical in looks and nearly identical in tools and skills on the baseball field as well. Payton may have caused friction for the drive home by nicking his brother with a first pitch curveball during their one at-bat against each other.
