2016 Top Prospects

Alvaro Valdez  OF - 2016 - Melbourne, FL
Reinhardt University/Eastern Florida State

Valdez showed some of the loudest tools this weekend and began by showcasing his 90 mph arm from the outfield with a smooth defensive actions and a fluid arm action. Perhaps his loudest tool though was his left-handed bat as he showed quick hands, resulting in very good bat speed with lift and life off the barrel to his pull side.

Michael Feliz  SS - 2016 - Englewood Cliffs, NJ
Notre Dame

A veteran of Perfect Game events, Feliz continues to improve each time we see him on both sides. Showing smooth, athletic actions and quick footowke to and through the ball, the Notre Dame commit showed good carry on his throws across. Feliz took equally impressive game swings as he did in BP, showing the ability to drive the ball to all fields and go with the outside pitch.

Wesley Reyes  SS - 2016 - Bayamon, PR
Jackson State

Reyes is a quick twitch athlete who showed well on both sides of the ball, throwing 89 mph across the diamond with quick feet and fluid actions to the ball. With the bat Reyes shows quick hands with lift in swing and projectable bat speed. He also touched 87 mph on the mound, the top velocity of the week.

Brian Rey  OF - 2016 - Deltona, FL
North Carolina State/Miami-Dade College

A North Florida commit, Rey displayed a very strong arm across the infield with a top throw of 87 mph, showing smooth actions with soft hands, He also stood out with the bat, showing very good bat speed and extension from the right side with a solid feel for the barrel and quick hands. Rey ran a 7.01 60-yard dash.

Mitchell Golden  SS - 2016 - Marietta, GA
Georgia Southern

Golden is a solid, athletic shortstop who shows sound actions up the middle and complements them with a strong arm across, topping out at 85 mph with his best throw. A switch-hitter, Golden showed extremely fast hands from both sides of the plate, generating above average bat speed while showing a feel from both sides of the plate.

Jack Bodner  OF - 2016 - Tierra Verde, FL
Stevens Institute of Technology

A primary outfield, Bodner showed a very strong arm and turned in the top outfield velocity of the showcase, peaking at 90 mph with his top throw. He was equally as impressive with the bat all weekend showing quick hands with natural lift to his pull side while showing a nice feel for the barrel of the bat.

Peter Brown, Jr  OF - 2016 - Mt. Pleasant, SC

Brown's athleticism was evidenced by him running a 6.70 in the 60-yard dash. Though not listed as a primary pitcher, Brown looked very comfortable on the bump, locating his fastball with precision to both sides of plate while topping out at 83 mph and projects for more. His mid-70s curveball showed late tilt and downward life.

JT Duncan  OF - 2016 - Panama City, FL
Gulf Coast CC

Duncan began the weekend by showing off his strong arm from the outfield where he gains momentum with his lower half and shows a full, loose arm action and moved well at shortstop in game action with athletic actions. He showed a great feel for the barrel all weekend, consistently putting the ball in play with a sound approach. His hands are loose and quick and he shows a nice feel for the barrel of the bat.

Peyton Faulkner  OF - 2016 - Caruthersville, MO
Southeast Missouri State/Jefferson CC

Faulkner showed well in all facets of his game, including his speed as he posted a 6.69 60-yard dash and his arm strength with his top throw from the outfield clocking at 86 mph. A left-handed hitter, Faulkner showed a smooth swing and solid contact skills, consistently squaring the ball up.

Phillip Felicien  1B - 2016 - Ocala, FL

Felicien is a strongly built 6-foot2/220-pound right-handed batter who uses his strength well with he bat. Showing quick hands, Felicien creates nice lift in his swing which he repeats well and shows good strength when driving the ball to centerfield. He also plays a sound first base where he shows soft hands with the ability to pick balls in the dirt.

Cole Halfacre  C - 2016 - Cantonment, FL
Northwest Florida State College

A left-handed hitter, Halfacre shows a quick, fluid swig plane with solid bat speed and natural lift to his pull side and projects for more power. Behind the plate Halfacre showed just as well as with the bat, popping a 1.89 to second with a top velocity of 78 mph. His exchange is both clean and quick and shows a short arm action on throws that are consistently accurate to the bag.

Brandon Louie  RHP - 2016 - South Pasadena, CA
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges

Coming all the way from California, Louie jumped on the mound and showed strong command of his repertoire. Topping at 83 mph with his fastball, Louie worked consistently down in the zone as to both side. Maintaining his fluid arm action, Louie showed a very good changeup with late fading action to it.

Connor Maginnis  SS - 2016 - Metairie, LA

Maginnis shows off big arm strength from a loose, lower arm slot across the diamond, clocking it at 89 mph with his top throw from short stop. Staying compact through his swing, Maginnis created consistent, loud contact with solid bat speed with a line drive swing plane from the right side.

Anthony Maldonado  RHP - 2016 - West Palm Beach, FL
Bethune-Cookman

With a strong right arm, the 6-foot-3 Maldonado worked well on the mound, bumping his fastball up to 86 mph. He shows a loose, easy arm action and generates downhill plane, utilizing his lower half well. He has a nice feel for a three pitch mix on the mound. Maldonado also swung the bat well this weekend with lift in his swing and nice extension out front.

Riley O'Day  RHP - 2016 - Coatesville, PA
Uncommitted

A right-handed pitcher, O'Day showed a loose and whippy arm action and projects well with added strength. Topping out at 82 mph, O'Day showed strong command or the strike zone with life to his arm side and mixed in an 11-5 curveball while showing a good feel for his changeup at 72 mph.

Connor Power  3B - 2016 - Wellington, FL
Notre Dame

A strongly built right-handed bat, Power showed big jump off his barrel to his pull side with nice separation and lift in his swing. He showed hard contact with fluidity in his swing and repeats it very well. Power popped at 2.00 in drills and threw an impressive 75 mph down to second base.

Matt Ranson  RHP - 2016 - Port Charlotte, FL
Lenoir-Rhyne

A solid athlete, Ranson ran a 6.93 in the 60-yard dash before jumping on the mound. Once on the mound, the 5-foot-11 Ranson ran his fastball up to 86 mph showing nice arm strength with the ability to locate to both sides of the plate. He also filled up the strike zone with an 11-5 curveball with depth in the low-70s.

Griffin Rivers  OF - 2016 - Birmingham, AL
South Alabama/Pensacola State

Though listed as a primary outfielder, Rivers had a strong showing on the mound, sitting in the 84-86 mph range with his fastball, striking out all 6 batters he faced. He showed off his arm strength and other tools too, throwing 89 mph from both the outfield and infield and ran an impressive 6.81 60.

Connor Rule  C - 2016 - Hays, KS
Kansas State

Connor Rule impressed with the bat all weekend, showing fast hands and good extension in swing, allowing him to get the barrel to the ball consistently with loud and hard contact to the pull side. Behind the plate, Rule popped a 1.94 and threw 77 mph down to second base from a short and compact arm action.

Mark Wanner  SS - 2016 - Rochelle, IL
Washburn/Indian Hills CC

Wander showed well defensively with tools that play well on the left side of the infield, showing solid actions and good carry and his throws across the diamond. With the bat the right-hander showed a quick line drive stroke with strength coming off the barrel, showing nice balance and fluidity in his swing.


2017 Top Prospects

Samuel McMillan  C - 2017 - Live Oak, FL
Florida

The young McMillan showed smooth defensive actions behind the plate, receiving the ball well whole showing a quick transfer and solid footwork. Those intangibles led him to popping a 1.93 and showed the events best velocity from behind the dish, throwing 79 mph to second base. He showed well with the bat too with a smooth swing from the right side with lift and strength to his pull side.

Patrick Irish  C - 2017 - St. Augustine, FL
Army

Irish showed athletic action and sound footwork around the first base bag before turning in the top first base velocity at the event at 80 mph. A right-handed hitter, Irish showed a short and fast swing with natural lift and big jump off the barrel to his pull side. His mechanics are simple and he repeats them well.

Tanner Gallman  C - 2017 - Calhoun, GA
Georgia State

Gallman showed very well defensively behind the plate. gaining ground on throws with his lower half and showing a quick transfer, Bo of which allowed him to popped the events best time of 1.78 while throwing 74 mph down to second base. He uses his strength well with the bat and projects well physically, showing some present gap power.

Jackson Kennemore  OF - 2017 - Corsicana, TX
Northeast Texas CC

A primary outfielder, Kennemore has a nice weekend showing good arm strength from the outfield, topping at 86 mph with his best throw while showing fluid defensive actions. He also turned in one of the better 60-yard times with a 6.98. Offensively he shows a a strong feel for the barrel, repeating his swing well with consistent line drive contact to all fields.


2018 Top Prospects

JP Gates  LHP - 2018 - Brooksville, FL
Miami

Though only a freshman, Gates showed an advanced feel on the mound, working his fastball in the 83-85 mph range, topping 86 mph, while showing a strong feel for both his changeup and 1-7 curveball with depth. Gates also swung the bat well from left side and shows interesting 2-way potential.

Nick O’Day  OF - 2018 - Coatesville, PA
La Salle

O'Day began the weekend by showing off his arm strength from the left side of the diamond where he clocked his top throw in at 84 mph and showed present strength and lift to his pull side with a quick right-handed swing. He then jumped on the mound and worked in the low-80s, peaking at 84 mph while showing a good feel for a mid-60s curveball with good downward depth.

Nicholas Perez-Battistini  SS - 2018 - Miami, FL
Uncommitted

Perez showed similar offensive tools as his brother above, showing a nice feel for the barrel along it he ability to hit to all fields. He has good bat sipped and his overall hitting tools project well over the next few year. A primary outfielder, Perez displayed plenty of arm strength, topping 85 mph, while showing smooth, athletic actions fielding the ball.

Daniel Perez-Battistini  1B - 2018 - Miami, FL
Florida International

Perez showed well with his right-handed swing, both during BP and during his in gams ABs. Showing a sound approach at the plate, Perez put a smooth, quick swing on display with solid bat speed and present strength coming off the barrel. He also jumped on the mound and topped out at 80 mph and showed fade and sink on his changeup.

Leif Bigelow  RHP - 2018 - Brattleboro, VT
University of Connecticut

Heading south from Vermont, the young and projectable Bigelow showed well throughout the weekend. His actions are smooth and fluid from both the outfield and infield, along with showing a solid contact approach with the bat, but it's the mound where he projects the best. Showing a loose, quick, and easy arm action, Bigelow will continue to develop well with added strength.

Colby Emmertz  C - 2018 - Hampstead, NC
East Tenn State

Emmertz came down from the state of Maine and had a strong showing on both sides of the ball. The young catcher popped an impressive 1.94 and showed sound receiving skills behind the plate with solid footwork. He also performed well with the bat in both BP and game action, showing a smooth swing plane with present strength off the barrel and projects for more.


2019 Top Prospects

Matthew Allan  RHP - 2019 - Sanford, FL
Florida

You wouldn't be able to tell that Allan is in eighth grade with the way he works on the mound. With a long, whippy arm action, Allan worked low in the zone with his fastball that topped at 84 mph and showed a strong feel for a sharp 11-5 curveball which served as his put away pitch.
