2009 Top Prospects

Abe Carrasco  RHP - 2009 - Downey, CA
Mount Mercy University/East Los Angeles College

Carrasco pitched with a loose, quick arm action and pounded the strike zone with his fastball sitting 91-93 mph. He threw a good curveball for strikes and showed feel for a sinking changeup as well. Carrasco showed pitchability and had an excellent performance.

Felix Roque  RHP - 2009 - Miami, FL
Uncommitted

Roque pitched at 88-91 mph with some sink on his fastball. He threw an 11-to-5 slider for strikes with tight, sharp break to it. He threw a good changeup with sink and run to it and showed good pitchability.

Blake Shepherd  OF - 2009 - La Crosse, WI
Viterbo College

Sheppard ran a 6.56 in the 60-yard dash. He also showed good arm strength from the outfield throwing 90 mph.


2011 Top Prospects

Dairo Gonzalez  C - 2011 - West Palm Beach, FL
Bacone College/Kirkwood CC

Gonzalez displayed good catching actions behind the plate with a quick transfer and release, and he popped a 1.94 in workouts. He also ran a 6.72 in the 60. Dairo showed good bat speed at the plate with power potential, hitting a home run in the game to go with two doubles.

Lucas Long  RHP - 2011 - Minneapolis, MN
San Diego

Long pitched at 88-91 mph with his fastball with a loose, quick arm action. He repeats his delivery well and showed very good pitchability. Long threw an 11-to-5 curveball with good shape and spin, and a changeup that absolutely disappeared to hitters.


2013 Top Prospects

Stephen Alemais  MIF - 2013 - New York, NY
Tulane

Alemais really showed why he is one of the top shortstops in the country. Had the most impressive IF workout and topped out at 91 across the diamond. He also made some really impressive plays look quite routine during the game.

Nick Belzer  RHP - 2013 - Ankeny, IA
Kansas State

Belzer pitched at 88-91 mph with his fastball with a quick, whippy arm action. He threw a sharp curveball for strikes and flashed a sinking changeup. Projects for more velocity and strength.

Jacob Brentz  LHP - 2013 - Ballwin, MO
Missouri/Jefferson College

Brentz throws with a loose, easy arm action and the ball jumps out of his hand. He flashed good spin on his curveball and good movement on his changeup in between innings. Brentz has a big upside and will steadily improve with experience on the mound. Fastball was up to 94 mph.

Derek Burkamper  RHP - 2013 - Muscatine, IA
Nebraska

Burkamper pitched steadily at 89-92 mph with his fastball and works downhill well. He threw his curveball for strikes and has shown excellent pitchability all spring. Strike thrower with projectable velocity.

Malik Collymore  SS - 2013 - Mississauga, ON CAN
Missouri

Collymore had the fastest 60 time at 6.54 seconds. Has a large athletic frame; he showed good fielding actions and threw 90 mph across the diamond. Malik showed great bat speed during his BP round hitting three homeruns in 10 cuts.

Kevin Davis  RHP - 2013 - Brewton, AL
Auburn

Davis threw his fastball at 90-92 mph from a loose, quick arm action. He threw a tight 11-to-5 curveball for strikes with good shape to it. He also threw a very good changeup with sink and run to it. Can really pitch and threw threes pitches for strikes.

Andrew Dunlap  DH - 2013 - Houston, TX
Rice

Dunlap showed very good velocity touching 96 mph with his fastball. He showed improved command of his breaking ball and also flashed a good changeup at 84 mph. Performed like a top two rounder for this year's draft.

Dalton Duty  OF - 2013 - Palatka, FL
University of Central Florida

Duty showed good arm strength from the outfield throwing 90 mph, and he also ran a 6.74 in the 60-yard dash. He showed a patient approach at the plate with the ability to pick out his pitch.

Matt Fiedler  RHP - 2013 - Eagan, MN
Minnesota

Fiedler is an interesting two-way prospect. He topped out at 90 mph off the mound. He also showed good fielding actions and good arm strength during IF workouts throwing 91 mph across the infield. He also ran 6.87 in the 60.

Taylor Field  C - 2013 - Newton, IA
Winona State

Field popped a 1.88 with a velo of 78 mph. He also showed solid defensive tools during the game.

Lachlan Fontaine  3B - 2013 - North Vancouver, BC CAN
Central Arizona CC

Fontaine had one of the top IF velos touching 91 mph. He also has the hands and footwork to match.

Zachary Fricke  C - 2013 - Waterloo, IA
Iowa/NIACC

Fricke showed solid receiving skills behind the plate. He also displayed good catch-and-throw ability with a 2.00 pop time at 78 mph.

Ian Hagenmiller  3B - 2013 - West Palm Beach, FL
Palm Beach State

Hagenmiller had one of the top IF velos at 90 mph. He also displayed soft hands with clean actions. At the plate he displayed good bat speed and pop during BP, and also hit well in games.

Ronnie Healy  C - 2013 - Jupiter, FL
Union College (Kentucky)/Frederick CC

Healy had the top pop time of the day with a 1.87 and the top C velo at 85 mph. Showed well with the bat in games knocking out four hits.

Alvie James  OF - 2013 - Hollywood, FL
Broward CC

James had the top OF velocity, throwing 92 mph from the outfield during workouts. Showed the ability to barrel up the ball in BP.

Nicholas Lawrence  RHP - 2013 - Wellington, FL
Uncommitted

Lawrence pitched at 88-90 mph with his fastball with a good downhill delivery. He pitched with lower effort and gets good sink on his changeup.

Casey Meisner  RHP - 2013 - Cypress, TX
Texas Tech

Meisner touched 92 mph with his fastball and works downhill very well. He has good downward plane on his fastball from his over hand arm slot and threw an 11-to-5 breaking ball for strikes. Projectable body and velocity.

Christian Padin  2B - 2013 - San Juan, PR
Bethel College (Tennessee)/Northeast Texas CC

Padin had the second fastest 60 with a time of 6.55 seconds. He showed smooth fielding actions with soft, sure hands. He showed a good approach at the plate and was disruptive on the base-paths.

Daniel Pinero  SS - 2013 - Toronto, ON CAN
Virginia

Pinero has extra-large frame with room to fill. He ran a 6.86 in the 60 and showed good arm strength during the IF workouts throwing 91 mph across the infield.

Daniel Procopio  RHP - 2013 - Toronto, ON CAN
Northern Kentucky

Procopio pitched at 88-90 mph with his fastball from a slow-paced delivery. He threw an 11-to-5 curveball with good downer action to it. He threw his curveball for strikes and showed some pitchablity.

AJ Puk  LHP - 2013 - Cedar Rapids, IA
Florida

Puk pitched at 88-92 mph with his fastball with a loose, easy arm action. He threw a very good sinking changeup and also threw a good curveball for strikes. Epitome of projectability on the mound and physically.

Tyler Schmitt  SS - 2013 - West Babylon, NY
Le Moyne

Schmitt had the top IF velocity throwing 94 mph across the infield. Tyler ran a 6.89 in the 60-yard dash. He showed a good swing path with gap power.

Bryce Welborn  RHP - 2013 - The Woodlands, TX
San Jacinto CC

Welborn used a high energy delivery to carve up opposing hitters. He showed good feel for a tight curveball and got some cut action on his fastball. Welborn pounded the strike zone and showed pitchability. His fastball was up to 93 mph.


2014 Top Prospects

Ryan Lillard  SS - 2014 - Urbandale, IA
Arizona State

Lillard showed good arm strength throwing 91 mph across the infield during the workout, and he showed good speed by running 6.78 in the 60. Lillard showed good plate discipline with the ability to drive the ball to all fields.

Keaton McKinney  RHP - 2014 - Ankeny, IA
Arkansas

McKinney touched 91 mph with his fastball with projectable velocity. He threw a changeup with good sink and run to it and also threw a curveball for strikes.

Owen Spiwak  C - 2014 - Mississauga, ON CAN
Odessa College

Spiwak tied for the second best pop time of the event with a 1.88. He also had the second best catchers velo at 81 mph.


Free Agents Top Prospects

Olivier Basabe  MIF - Free Agents - Maracaibo, VE VEN

Basabe threw 90 mph during the IF workout. Also showed present power during BP as he hit his last ball off of the round-out of the ballpark.
