2021 Top Prospects

Preston Havenor  C - 2021 - Spring, TX
Air Force

Havenor was one of the best athletes at the showcase and that athleticism really helps him as a 6-3/180 catcher with long levers. He ran a 6.87 sixty to highlight that athleticism and showed a strong right handed bat with plenty of barrel whip and strength at contact.

Ryan Pehrson  RHP - 2021 - Southlake, TX
Northern Kentucky/Wharton County Junior College

Pehrson dominated for three innings with a fastball that was up to 88 mph that he commanded well to both sides of the plate and which had big downhill angle from a high 3/4's arm slot. He held together a fast paced delivery well and had some deception that contributed to hitter's being consistently late in their swings.

Rilan Quinones  SS - 2021 - San Antonio, TX
Hill College

Quinones stands out physically at 6-3/195 and it isn't surprising that his best tool is his right handed bat. He has quick hands that create whip in his barrel and consistently drove the ball hard to both gaps with nice carry.

Zach Zarko  2B - 2021 - Hurst, TX
Uncommitted

What Zarko lacks in size at 5-8/150 he makes up for in quickness and aggressiveness. He ran a 6.71 sixty with quick and athletic actions in the middle infield on defense and showed plenty of right handed bat speed while attacking the ball and showing barrel skills.

Logan Dunn  SS - 2021 - Mount Pleasant, TX
Northeast Texas CC

Dunn is a slender 6-2/155 athlete with lots of room to get stronger. He's a 6.87 runner with good athleticism in the middle infield and has a surprisingly short and quick right handed swing for his size and build. He'll keep improving as he matures physically and gets stronger.

Max Milligan  OF - 2021 - Amarillo, TX
Uncommitted

Milligan took the best batting practice of any player at the event, topping it off with a long home run to right field that he turned and lifted with intent and confidence. He develops lots of torque and left handed bat speed from a tightly wound 5-11/160 athletic build and has plenty of room to get stronger.

Ryan Branch  OF - 2021 - Sugar Land, TX
Amarillo College

Branch is a strong and tightly would 5-8/165 athlete with lots of quick twitch actions. He's a 6.91 runner with lots of outfield arm strength and looks like he's going to be a plus defender in center field at the next level based on his jumps and athleticism. How much his bat improves will determine his ceiling.

Troy Johnson  SS - 2021 - Corpus Christi, TX
Davidson

Johnson has a nice mix of strong fundamentals both offensively and defensively and plenty of natural tools, including 7.0 speed and a strong infield arm. He swung the bat well with a middle of the field gap to gap approach that was consistent and had some nice bat speed and impact.

Rowdy Hoadley  SS - 2021 - Georgetown, TX
Temple College

Hoadley is a versatile and projectable athlete who not only is a switch-hitter with potential from both sides of the plate but also showed a much stronger arm from the mound than he did for PG a couple of weeks ago, topping out at 86 mph. He's going to keep improving in all areas as he adds strength.

Henry Cone  RHP - 2021 - Brenham, TX
Baylor

Cone and Rowdy Hoadley (above) are very similar prospects as potential two-way players at the next level with mid-80's fastballs, the ability to swing the bat from both sides, although Cone was much better from the left side at this event, and young bodies with lots of growth and physical maturity in front of them.

2022 Top Prospects

Jordan Medellin  SS - 2022 - League City, TX
Baylor

Medellin is a primary shortstop but he might have a higher ceiling on the mound based on this look. He has a very athletic and projectable 6-1/155 build and a fast arm that produced a fastball up to 85 mph with nasty bat breaking life on it at times to go with a change up with the same life. A 7.07 runner, Medellin is a switch-hitter with better bat speed from the left side.

Keyon Guillory  RHP - 2022 - Lake Charles, LA
Uncommitted

Guillory is a big and strong young athlete who is a primary third baseman with a strong right handed bat but he might have more ceiling on the mound. He was up to 85 mph from a low effort delivery and showed a very loose wrist and arm out front that really projects well for future velocity. Once the games started he had very confident and athletic actions in all areas of the game.

Henry Mitchell  SS - 2022 - Albuquerque, NM
Navy

Mitchell is a solid all around athlete with plenty of strength in his 5-10/165 build. He's a switch-hitter with pretty equal ability from both sides of the plate and takes an aggressive, full swing that has some pop in it. Mitchell also topped out at 84 mph on the mound. The young New Mexico native is also the type who leaves it all on the field and is going to maximize his tools.

Trent Caram  RHP - 2022 - Houston, TX
Lamar

Caram is an older 2023 who actually has a 2021 birth date but that doesn't obscure the fact that he has lots of strength based tools in his 6-3/192 build. His best tools are in his right handed bat, as he has a strong and lifting swing with plenty of power potential that played well in the games.

Jax Traeger  RHP - 2022 - Spring, TX
TCU

Traeger has a strong and pretty mature 6-1/185 build for his age and solid overall athleticism that make him a potential two-way prospect. He was up to 85 mph on the mound and held his velocity well through three innings while showing a low 70's breaking ball that developed more and more bite as the outing evolved.

Jayme Williams  RHP - 2022 - Cedar Park, TX
Central Baptist

Williams has very solid run and throw tools, including 6.99 speed in the sixty, a strong outfield arm that played very well in the games, plus an 85 mph fastball on the mound.

2023 Top Prospects

Blake Mitchell  C - 2023 - Sinton, TX
Louisiana State

Mitchell has solid catching tools for his age but what really stood out was his left handed bat. He took a strong batting practice but really showed his tools in the games, including Sunday when his first two swings resulted in a double over the right fielder's head and a triple over the center fielder's head.

Kris Grimes  C - 2023 - Spring, TX
Angelina College

Grimes has very good catching tools and skills for a 2023 and was one of the top defensive catchers at the event regardless of age/class. He's comfortable and mechanically sound behind the plate and has plenty of present arm strength that is just going to keep improving.

Kolvin Davis  OF - 2023 - Houston, TX
Temple College

Davis is a young and projectable athlete who really showed his tools well in the games. He plays faster than his 7.23 sixty speed as he ran a 4.37 turn on a laced double and 4.40 home to first and he showed power in his bat, too. He's a strong bet to keep getting better and better over the next few years.

Easton Tumis  RHP - 2023 - Friendswood, TX
Texas

Tumis has lots of strength he can add to his very slender 6-2/140 build but he has a nice and loose arm from an extended 3/4's arm slot. He topped out at 83 mph with outstanding running life at times and showed some snap to his slider.

2024 Top Prospects

Ray Rose III  3B - 2024 - Tomball, TX
San Jacinto CC

Rose really stands out physically for a 14-year old at 6-1/175 and could be a big young man before he's done growing. His most impressive and projectable tool was his right handed raw power from an aggressive and confident approach at the plate.
