2020 Top Prospects

Charlie Tull  C - 2020 - Kennesaw, GA
West Georgia

Local product Charles Tull was one of the top catchers of the weekend as he uses quick actions behind the plate and an accurate, strong arm into his throws. Tull works through the ball with ease and topped out at an event best 80 mph and 1.85 second pop time from behind the plate. His swing is compact with a direct hand path to contact and power potential.

Brett McHugh  OF - 2020 - Macon, GA

Outfielder Brett McHugh showed some big-time potential tools with a 6.78 60 time and an 87 mph arm from the outfield to go with a projectable swing. McHugh utilized that swing both in game and in batting practice spraying the ball to all parts of the field on a line.

Ben Farrell  LHP - 2020 - Lancaster, NY

Farrel made the trip to Georgia from New York and showed plenty of promise on the mound. The lefthander topped out at 83 mph with his fastball using a 2-8 curveball as well. Farrel has deception to his delivery while attacking hitters with his two pitch combination.

Parker Poteet  SS - 2020 - Johns Creek, GA
Mercer/Georgia Highlands

Poteet has a smaller frame but that does not limit his ability to play the game with athleticism and clean actions both in the infield and outfield. His footwork is ideal for a middle infielder and the arm plays across as well. His swing projects well from both sides of the plate handling the barrel well with good contact skills.

Jasper Stanfield  RHP - 2020 - Jesup, GA

Stanfield has plenty of two-way ability to his game both on the mound where he is up to 84 mph with his fastball and as an infielder with present barrel skills and power potential at the plate. Stanfield graded out best in the batter's box where his true bat speed, line drive plane and compact stroke were noteworthy.

Micah Bettis  OF - 2020 - Johns Creek, GA
Young Harris College

Bettis is a quick-twitch athlete who showed the ability to consistently barrel the baseball in batting practice and good foot speed with a 6.73 second 60 yard dash. Hand-eye coordination is there with his approach at the plate using a line drive swing plane and some lift and leverage to the gap.

Mason Port  3B - 2020 - Woodstock, GA

The ability Port has both in the outfield and at the plate was showcased over the weekend as he uses a direct swing path that stays compact through the hitting zone and good hand-eye to meet the ball on time. His actions in the outfield come easy with athletic footwork and an arm up to 83 mph.

Ben Koch  RHP - 2020 - Norcross, GA

Augusta University commit Ben Koch was up to 84 mph on the mound over the weekend with a compact and working arm action. His fastball showed some life early in the outing while he mixed in a curveball with 11-5 shape and feel, comfortable throwing the breaking ball in any count. The 6-foot-1 righthander projects well staying tall on his backside with good direction and rhythm to the plate.

Brentan Newberry  OF - 2020 - Suwanee, GA
Young Harris College

Newberry's athleticism was highlighted over the weekend in the outfield as well as during the 60 where he posted a time of 6.81 seconds. The right-handed hitting outfielder has efficient footwork ranging to the ball in the outfield and a line drive swing at the plate that has some bat speed and through the zone.

Ej Murray  1B - 2020 - Buford, GA

Murray has a quick and compact swing with some present lift at the plate. His batting practice was impressive showing his ability to manipulate the barrel. The primary first baseman profiles well at the position as well as in the outfield where his accuracy and quickness are of note.


2021 Top Prospects

Miles Langhorne  RHP - 2021 - Greenwich, CT
University of North Carolina-Charlotte

Langhorne had a huge weekend in Georgia primarily on the mound as traveled from Connecticut to showcase his craft. The tall and ultra-projectable righthander pitched at 89-92 mph while topping out at 93 mph during his outing. He uses a longer arm action through the back and has a three pitch mix that project very well moving forward.

Ben Medley  RHP - 2021 - Marietta, GA
Reinhardt University/East Georgia College

Medley has tools all over the field with arm strength across the diamond and in the outfield as well as quickness that legged a 6.83 second 60 yard dash. He looks to do damage at the plate with his strong and still projectable 6-foot-3, 170-pound frame with the ability to do so creating good bat speed through the hitting zone and extension through contact.

Glenn Green  3B - 2021 - Tyrone, GA
Memphis

Green showcased some of the best power at the plate during batting practices ripping ball deep to his pull side. His plate coverage is noteworthy swinging with intent to the point of contact. He meets the ball out in front with a feel for the barrel and lift to his swing plane.

Fletcher Whitley  LHP - 2021 - Hixson, TN

Fletcher Whitley primarily sat in the 80-84 mph range with his fastball but did touch 86 mph from his left arm. Utilizing ac compact arm action and deceptive delivery, Whitley was able to stay online creating a downhill plane to the plate with his fastball and mix a 1-to-7 curveball to both sides of the plate for swings and misses.

Samuel Smith  3B - 2021 - Lilburn, GA
Tennessee-Martin/Northwest Florida State College

Samuel Smith has an extremely projectable frame that he uses to impress on both sides of the ball. Smith excelled at each position he worked out at including his primary third base position, on the mound, in the outfield and at the plate. His corner infield actions project with repetitions and his batting practice flashed with jump to the alleys.

Michael Kass  3B - 2021 - Sugar Hill, GA
Young Harris College

Two-way talent Michael Kass stood out and graded best on the mound where he was up to 85 mph with a tight breaking ball. In the middle infield he was able to showcase that arm strength up to 86 across the diamond and display a lift to his swing and intent to his swing path.

Michael Zarrillo  SS - 2021 - Atlanta, GA
Lafayette

Zarrillo impressed primarily with his left-handed swing although listed as a switch hitter. He has tools from both sides with additional barrel skills on the left side and better bat speed. In the infield his actions stood out in drills with athleticism, range and a quick transfer to his barehand.

Gavin Millians  C - 2021 - Carrollton, GA
Shorter University

The best arm strength behind the plate belonged to Gavin Millians during the Southeast Prospect Showcase. Millians has a strong arm that produced a best throw from behind the plate of 80 mph and a 1.95 second pop time. He has a square stance at the plate before creating a level and quick swing plane with power to the alleys, will continue to improve at the plate with reps.

Brett Zerbel  LHP - 2021 - Augusta, GA
Georgia Southern

Lefthander Brett Zerbel impressed over the weekend as he using an uptempo delivery to produce fastballs in the low-80s, up to 83 mph, and a pair of secondary offerings. He gets good extension out in front allowing for all three of his pitches to be commanded to either side of the plate.

Anthony Bonacci  RHP - 2021 - Peachtree Corners, GA
Chattanooga State Technical CC

Young righthander Anthony Bonacci impressed on the mound as the righthander throws with intent and a fastball that reaches 83 mph. The righty has a three pitch mix that he can throw in all counts with a short-breaking slider and feel for a changeup. The 6-foot pitcher from Peachtree Corners, Georgia missed barrels and pitched around the strike zone frequently.

Denzel Boston  OF - 2021 - Newnan, GA

Boston's weekend was highlighted by running the fastest 60 yard dash at 6.57 seconds. The rest of his game is in the developing stages and project with strength. He can go get the baseball in the outfield and his swing from the right side has more bat speed and the ability to execute an approach of hitting the ball on the ground to use his speed down the line.

Nolan Barr  OF - 2021 - Bainbridge, GA

Bainbridge High School product Nolan Barr stood out during the 2019 Southeast Prospect Showcase using his arm strength from the outfield and on the mound to light up the radar gun. His best throw from the outfield was up to 88 mph and his pitching was up to 86 mph with a loose arm. At the plate, his swing is long with projection in the batter's box.


2022 Top Prospects

Russell Miller  SS - 2022 - Macon, GA
Uncommitted

Miller stood out all over the field during the weekend as he used athleticism both in the infield and with his foot speed (6.79 second 60 yard dash) to standout. His hands are smooth up the middle as highlighted in his drills and in game action. The swing he produces in the batter's box works thought a line drive swing plane with some bat speed present.

Cannon Peebles  C - 2022 - Mechanicsville, VA
Tennessee

Primary catcher Cannon Peebles really stood out on the mound where he excelled in mixing his low- to mid-80s fastball with a solid breaking ball. His delivery projects with repetitions and continued explosion. Behind the dish, Peebles has some flexibility and a swing that projects especially from the right side.

McDonald McCommons  C - 2022 - Greensboro, GA
Navy

McCommons worked out everywhere with versatility at every position. He graded out best in the outfield although he is listed as a primary catcher. His arm strength stood out in all facets topping out at 86 mph from the outfield and 78 behind the plate. He stood out on the mound as well up to 84 mph. His right-handed swing has some hand quickness and batt speed through the hitting zone as well.

Edwin Bowman lV  1B - 2022 - Suwanee, GA
University of North Georgia

Although he is a primary right-handed pitcher, Edwin Bowman IV uses his highly projectable frame to really project at the plate with power to both gaps that included a deep home run to left field in BP. Bowman IV uses a direct hand path to contact and a lift to his swing when staying on plane through the hitting zone.

Nathan Pettitt  C - 2022 - Dunwoody, GA

Pettitt made an appearance this weekend to showcase his tools behind the plate as well as his righthanded swing. Pettitt projects behind the plate with quickness coming out of his crouch and using a compact arm action and efficient footwork to post a 2-flat best pop time. His swing is compact with a line drive swing plane and middle of the field approach.


2023 Top Prospects

Tj Aiken  OF - 2023 - Greenwood, SC
Old Dominion

One of the youngest players in attendance was outfielder from South Carolina Travis Aiken. A projectable 6-foot, 179-pound prospect with a compact swing and present bat speed projects really well in the coming years. He creates a line drive swing plane with a quiet approach working the ball from gap to gap.

Jordan Thomas  OF - 2023 - Loganville, GA
Polk State

Thomas is a player to look forward to as he continues to fill out and get stronger. His young 5-foot-10 frame has room to fill and his quickness and swing combined with his frame project very well in the coming years. Thomas is athletic in the outfield and has a swing that produces line drive contact to the middle of the field with projectable strength off of the barrel.

Devon Alleyne  RHP - 2023 - Atlanta, GA

When it comes to outfield arm strength of the 2022 graduates at the event, no one topped Devon Alleyne's throw of 90 mph during workouts. The outfielder from North Atlanta High School has athleticism both in the outfield and on the mound where he shows projectable arm speed and topped out at 81 mph.
