2007 Top Prospects

Shawn Zarraga  C - 2007 - Boynton Beach, FL   UNC-Greensboro

Has a pro catcher’s body with good present strength. Light on his feet and showed a tick above-average major league arm. Showed power with the bat as well as an advanced approach at the plate.

Curtis Casali  C - 2007 - New Canaan, CT   Vanderbilt

Has a pro-type frame with good present strength. Solid major league average catch-and-throw player right now. Has power potential.

Matthew Tomshaw  LHP - 2007 - Kingston, NY   Jacksonville

Has a loose, easy arm with a fastball up to 88 mph. Projectable body with good arm action. Good feel for pitching.

Trevor Reckling  LHP - 2007 - Newark, NJ   High Point

Showed feel for three pitches, including a fastball in the mid-80s with good life. He also showed a nice changeup and a good slider. Another player that can really pitch.

Daniel Barnes  RHP - 2007 - Manhasset , NY   Princeton

Commanded two pitches and showed 89 mph velocity with his fastball. A projectable frame and an easy arm action make him one to watch.

John Mincone  LHP - 2007 - Dix Hills, NY   James Madison

Has real good command of two pitches and can really pitch. Showed a heavy 86 mph fastball and a good, hard slider. Recently coming off Tommy John surgery.

Gregory Sherry  SS - 2007 - Mendham, NJ   Notre Dame

Athletic player with life in his body. Showed bat speed at the plate and nice actions in the infield.

Trevor Funk  RHP - 2007 - Vero Beach, FL   Uncommitted

Big-bodied righthander with great mound presence. Showed the makings of a nice breaking ball and 85 mph fastball. Recently coming off Tommy John surgery.

Andrew Kolmar  OF - 2007 - Mendham, NJ   Yale

Has a projectable body and threw an easy 89 mph from the outfield and ran well. The ball comes off his bat well. Strong player with power potential.

Anthony Luciano  SS - 2007 - Holtsville, NY   Uncommitted

Athletic outfielder who ran 6.76 seconds in the 60, but could probably run better. Showed good bat speed in BP. Smart player who plays hard.

Ryan McGrath  3B - 2007 - Newtown, CT   Wake Forest

Solid all-around player who played well in the games. Showed bat speed with power potential. Competes well.

Joey Frabasile  OF - 2007 - Hartsdale, NY   UNC-Greensboro

Projectable body with current life. Showed nice actions in the infield and bat speed with a nice approach at the plate.

A.J. Rusbarsky  SS - 2007 - Freehold, NJ   Seton Hall

Hard-nosed, hustle-type player, really showed well in the games. He hit almost everything hard and showed range and arm strength from shortstop.

Tucker Nathans  MIF - 2007 - Warwick, NY   Fairfield

Live athletic body, with good actions in the infield. Took one of the best batting practices at the event.

2009 Top Prospects

Tyler Donovan  C - 2009 - Brewster, NY   Winthrop

Live-bodied player with great catch-and-throw mechanics and some present arm strength. Very efficient thrower who also showed promise with the bat.

Mike Lubanski  C - 2009 - Collegeville, PA   Wake Forest

Strong build and projectable frame. He can really swing the bat and showed power to all fields. Younger brother of Kansas City Royals prospect Chris Lubanski.
