2021 Top Prospects

Diego Gutierrez  SS - 2021 - Norwalk, CA
Cal State Northridge

The Cal State Northridge commit was excellent in the outfield and at the plate but truly it was his performance on the mound that shined the brightest. Every out he recorded in his two-inning outing was a strikeout as hitters had a really tough time catching up to his fastball up to 90 mph. His true 11-to-5 shaped curveball possesses good depth and has room to improve.

Danny Noli  RHP - 2021 - Chandler, AZ
Uncommitted

Shined on the mound as well with a heavy fastball up to 89 mph. His compact and efficient lower half is mature for his age, and he repeats his mechanics pretty easily. His true 11-to-5 shaped curveball shows good late break to the plate, and occasionally flashes plus ability as it falls off the table. He also showcased great power at the plate when getting his hands out in front.

Christopher Ceballos  RHP - 2021 - Azusa, CA
Westmont College

Ceballos is a well-built 6-3/195 right-hander who impressed in a number of facets, but most so at his primary pitching position where he worked in the 84-88 mph range with good arm speed and cut to his fastball while showing feel for a power curveball that helped him in striking out 10 across four innings of work.

Logan McCleery  RHP - 2021 - Patterson, CA
St. Xavier University

McCleery was excellent in this event, pounding the strike zone in the mid-80's and up to 87 mph with heavy, big sink; also mixing in a solid slider in the upper-70's with sharpness and bite.

Josh Algarin  OF - 2021 - Fremont, CA
Queens University of Charlotte

impressed on the mound as well as in the outfield with his strong arm and athletic actions. Algarin moves well and posted a 7.08 second sixty-yard dash time. His compact motion and plus arm speed helps his 85 mph fastball play up, and he proves to be a tough look for left-handed hitters with his big 11-to-5 shaped breaker.

Joseph Barnhardt  C - 2021 - Stockton, CA
San Joaquin Delta College

Barnhardt is a strong, physical 6-2/205 backstop who showed well in every facet of his game this weekend. The arm strength is a loud tool whether behind the plate or on the mound, where he was up to 85 mph and showed a long and easy swing with big jump and back spun carry to all fields.

Logan Drummond  OF - 2021 - Lodi, CA
Chico State

Drummond is an athletic primary outfielder who showed his athleticism over the weekend, running a 7.06 while also throwing 90 mph from the outfield. His arm works on the mound where he was up to 84 mph and showed some quickness to his hands with carry off the barrel at the plate.

Titus Dumitru  OF - 2021 - Gresham, OR
New Mexico State/Linn-Benton CC

Put on a show in the BP session with his quick bat speed and simple approach. At an already physical 6-foot-2, 195-pounds, Dumitru can drive the ball into either gap by simply flicking his wrists. His size profiles well for a corner infield position and his plus athleticism will soon translate to his defensive ability.

Jackson Hohensee  RHP - 2021 - Anthem, AZ
Uncommitted

Hohensee pitched well in this event, working 80-83 mph with his fastball, showing the ability to sink it when down and keep on plane when up, also mixing in a solid CB. He's also got some thump in his righthanded swing.

Carter Hunt  SS - 2021 - San Diego, CA
Webster University

Hunt is an uncommitted senior who has the tools to stick at the shortstop position with good arm strength across, but impressed the most on the mound where he sat in the 85-88 mph range with feel for a hammer high-spin breaking ball. The remaining physical projection at 6-1 150 paired with now stuff makes for intriguing upside for the next level on the mound.

Lucas Iorgulescu  SS - 2021 - Huntington Beach, CA
Cerritos College

Iorgulescu showed consistency in his round of batting practice and solid fundamental tools at the shortstop position but made his biggest impression in game action, specifically the final game of the event, when he went 3-for-4 with two no doubt homeruns to the pull side. The athleticism/strength combo is something that stands out and should help in his appeal to college recruiters.

Colin Loughrey  OF - 2021 - Laguna Niguel, CA
Uncommitted

Had a strong event overall with plus tools on both sides of the ball. He was one of the most balanced players with quick hands at the plate and a solid baseball IQ. His fastball sits around 82-84 mph on the mound, and he has a great feel for the barrel at the plate with a flat path through the zone.

Jack Vrh Jr.  C - 2021 - Scottsdale, AZ

Vrh showed good strength at the plate, repeating a clean stroke well and consistently finding hard barrels pull-side; and his catch-and-throw skills behind the plate stood out, with good twitch in his lower half and quality arm strength.

Patrick Collopy  LHP - 2022 - Austin, TX
Louisiana-Lafayette

Collopy dominated during his four innings on the mound, a span in which he struck out 9. A strongly built lefthander, Collopy was up to 85 mph with his fastball and did a nice job of hiding the ball, missing plenty of bats as hitters didn’t seem to pick the ball up out of his hand. He hit his spots and mixed an array of pitches for strikes.

Victor Heredia Jr  SS - 2022 - Santa Ynez, CA
Uncommitted

Heredia showed well on the defensive side of the ball fluidity and quickness to his actions at shortstop while displaying bat speed and feel for the barrel at the dish, but has great upside on the mound where he missed bats with a fastball in the mid-80s and feel for a projectable slider.

Tanner Holland  OF - 2022 - Chandler, AZ
Rice/Central Arizona CC

Holland has impact-type speed, evidenced by his 6.44 sixty yard dash, and used it in game action where he put pressure on opposing defenses with a large number of stolen bags. His athleticism plays well in the outfield and at the dish where he works short to the ball with feel for the barrel that translated well to game.

A strong runner who posted a 6.74 in the 60-yard dash and showed off his arm strength from the outfield where he was up to 88 mph. He shows potential at the plate as he creates more extension to his swing, already showing carry off the barrel to his pull side.

Jonathan Enright  3B - 2022 - Sierra Vista, AZ
Uncommitted

Creates great leverage in his stroke with a leg lift trigger and a pretty heavy linear weight shift in the box. He’s a fantastic overall athlete who posted a 6.98 second sixty-yard dash time, and he showcased soft hands in the infield with a solid comprehension for his footwork.

Andrew Mings  OF - 2022 - Scottsdale, AZ

At the dish he has quickness to his hands that generates easy bat speed and has feel for getting the barrel head out consistently to generate solid contact.

Sawyer Voortman  RHP - 2022 - Ontario, CA
Uncommitted

Voortman showed well during his time on the mound, putting his feel for pitching and full three-pitch mix on full display. Up to 86 mph with his fastball, the uncommitted righthander showed some hard cutting action to the pitch at times while his sharp curveball with late bite proved to be a difference maker and the changeup was a sound third pitch.

Justin Lee  RHP - 2023 - Los Angeles, CA
UCLA

Lee has made great strides physically and in stuff since the last time we saw him and it has boded well for his success as the 6-2/198 right-hander worked comfortably in the 86-89 mph range with good sink and extension down the mound while mixing in two distinct breaking balls in a curveball and slider that both project well given the shape and sharpness to them.

He goes right after guys on the hill with his fastball up to 85 mph and he consistently hunts the inner half of the baseball at the plate.
