Batting Practice Highlights

Aaron Downs (2021 OF, Pella, IA) Righthanded hitter showed a fluid and hard swing looking to impact the baseball out in front of the plate and drive it to the deep parts of the field. Downs displays a very high amount of power potential with his bat that is already beginning to be unlocked in his 205-pound frame.
Josh Fitzgerald (2019 OF, Mason City, IA) Shows a linear shift into contact early and stays balanced throughout swing path. He has a high amount of jump off the barrel with a naturally lifted barrel plane. When he's able to stay on time he can really turn the barrel out front showing best contact to the pull side.
Drake Frazier (2019 OF, Cedar Rapids, IA) Took a strong batting practice at the Pre-Draft showing his quick hands through the zone working to the pull. He displays a capability to control the barrel well while being able to get the bat through the zone with intent.
Alec Nigut (2020 OF, Des Moines, IA) Sets up in a wide stance with quick hands to the ball showing explosiveness with the barrel at impact. Consistently squared the ball up with line drive contact to the pull side gap. Repeats mechanics well and has the strength to drive the ball out of the ballpark.
El Rico Riley (2019 SS, Atlanta, GA) Athletic hitter in the box with a compact stroke on a line drive plane through the zone. Able to work contact to all parts of the field. Raw strength in the bat that should continue to be improved upon.
Wyatt Stevenson (2019 3B, Gracey, KY) Generates a smooth and fluid swing in the box staying on time and getting into a rhythm at the plate. Works the ball from gap to gap, with the best power potential coming when driving the ball on the right side of the field. Had multiple balls hit off the fence in right field.
Albert Choi (2019 OF, Downingtown, PA) Quick and direct to the baseball while being able to impact the ball with authority. Creates a bit of lift through the zone on a slightly uphill plane. Can drive the ball all over the field.
Garrett Saunders (2015 SS, Bonaparte, IA) Capable of working hard line drive contact to all field flashing natural leverage when getting the ball into the air. Short and direct with hands producing bat speed with feel for the barrel.
William Oliver Kelley (2019 OF, Newnan, GA) Looks to impact the ball with a strong frame utilizing it well during batting practice. Lofted swing plane looking to lift the ball and drive it to the pull side of the field.
Ian Moller (2021 C, Dubuque, IA) Strong swing with a knowledgeable idea how to hit for a 2021 graduate. Often got the ball in the air on a positive trajectory and working to the middle of the field as well as to the pull side. Easy contact skills with pure power to soon follow.
Zion Spearman (2019 OF, Philadelphia, PA) Drove several balls out of the park during batting practice while showing a compact and repeatable barrel path. Present strength throughout build and utilizing it well. Creates jump when pulling the ball and turning the barrel out front.
Tyler Brandenburg (2019 1B, Saukville, WI) Linear shifts into contact with an aggressive swing path. Line drive plane through the zone working the ball often to the pull side. Really has the chance to turn into a power threat when keeping weight back and driving the ball.
