Gable Mitchell (2022 SS, Iowa City, IA) showed a balanced approach with good feel for the barrel. Showed the ability to throw the bat head to the ball at contact and hit the ball with pop when squared. 

Sam Wilt (2022 RHP, Anamosa, IA) showed good fastball control locating his fastball on both sides of the plate running the fastball up to 83 miles per hour. Flashed good bat speed collecting a hit and with a loud foul ball to left field. 

Jaxon Brooks (2022 SS, Burlington, IA) Showed a short compact swing with a line drive barrel plane through extension with consistently created sharp contact to all fields.

Nolan Tichy (2020 SS, Orono, MN) The Minnesota native showed good balance at the plate with the ability to control the barrel throughout the zone. Consistently created sharp contact throughout the game while picking up two hits.

Nick Gottilla (2019 LHP, Davenport, IA) Consistently worked ahead of hitters early in the count to each edge of the plate in the low to mid 80's. Flashed tight, late breaking spin with a curveball in the low 70's as well. Effectively kept hitters off balance and induced soft, weak contact.

Sky Jones (2021 RHP, Burlingame, CA) The California native flashed heavy life through the zone with a fastball that topped at 86 miles per hour. Primarily looked to work ahead of hitters with fastball offering before utilizing a sharp breaking curveball as an out pitch.

Tyler Tscherter (2020 SS, Reinbeck, IA) The Iowa native displayed an repeatable arm stroke that allowed him consistently located his fastball to the bottom quadrants of the zone, topped at 85 miles per hour. Consistently worked ahead in the count with his fastball and flashed the ability to land a sweeping slider for strikes as well. Tscherter was also very impressive at the plate picking up three hits in his first three at-bats.

Sam Nicolino (2020 OF, Des Moines, IA) The Des Moines native showed a smooth, repeatable swing path with a line drive barrel plane through extension. Collected two hits in game action including a double in his first at-bat.

Dylan McVeigh (2021 MIF, Cedar Rapids, IA) McVeigh showed good feel for the zone with the ability to manipulate his barrel head. The 2021 grad showed a knack for finding the barrel driving picking up three hits, including a triple in his last at-bat of the day.

Bryce Phelps (2021 RHP, Denver, IA) The primary pitcher also impressed at the plate today pitching up two hits including a double. The 2021 grad utilized a balance approach with the ability to throw the barrel head to contact with some whip.

Sam Petersen (2021 SS, Huxley, IA) Petersen doubled in his last at bat of the game. The 2021 grad also proved to be a game changer on the paths collected 3 steals, and made a number of very athletic defensive plays in the infield.

Gabriel Monosmith (2021 C, Ankeny, IA) The 2021 catcher collected two hits in game action including a double. Showed quick hands through the zone with a naturally leveraged swing path through extension.

Keaton Gray (2020 SS, Ankeny, IA) The 2020 Ankeny native displayed a clean swing path while showing solid control for the barrel. Showed a knack for finding the barrel while picking up two hits, including a double ion his last at-bat.

Trey Morris (2020 RHP, Ankeny, IA) The primary pitcher also showed good feel for the barrel while at the plate. The 2020 grad utilized a naturally leveraged swing plane that created tight backspin off the barrel to the gaps when squared.

Joseph Harris (2020 1B, Marshalltown, IA) Harris employed an aggressive approach at the plate while looking to drive the ball to all fields. Consistently produced sharp contact off the barrel collecting 3 hits, including a double, in five at-bats.

Nick Banowetz (2020 C, Robins, IA)  Banowetz looked to utilize a high contact approach while showing a line drive barrel plane through extension. Collected two solid single in his last two trips to the plate.

Owen Puk (2021 RHP, Cedar Rapids, IA) Puk, a 2021 grad, displayed very good feel for the zone and consistently located to each edge of the plate topping at 82 miles per hour. Consistently attacked the the zone while inducing weak, soft contact throughout each inning.

Keian Secrist (2021 SS, North Liberty, IA) The North Liberty native displayed good feel for the zone while employing a heavy fastball that produced life in the low to mid 80's, topped at 84 miles per hour. The 2021 grad also utilized a 12/6 breaking ball that flashed as a swing and miss pitch.

Jaxon LaBrie (2020 SS, Brandon, SD) LaBrie showed good feel barrel while employing a balanced approach. Consistently looked to created contact on a line and collected two hits in game action.

Javier Martinez (2019 3B, Fuquay Varina, NC) The 2019 grad was impressive while on the mound featuring a heavy fastball that topped at 86 miles per hour. Worked quickly and consistently attacked the strike zone. Displayed good feel for his breaking ball and consistently landed the offering within the bottom quadrants of the zone.

3-Gold Vs. 4-Maroon Highlights

4/28/2019

Alec Nigut (2020 OF, Des Moines, IA) Collected two base hits in the game for Maroon including a loud opposite field single. On the mound flashed a heavy fastball up to 84 miles per hour complemented by a sharp 1/7 curveball. 

Jalen Martinez (2020 OF, Clive, IA) mashed a loud double to go along with a opposite field single in the game for the Gold team. Jalen showed a 83 mile per hour fastball with late run while collecting two strike outs in his two innings of work. 

Nile Foss (2020 LHP, Des Moines, IA) Was able to collect five strike outs in his two innings worked while allowing two hits and walking none featuring a fastball up to 83 miles per hour and good feel for a slider at 68 miles per hour. 

Austin Greven (2020 RHP, Apple Valley, MN) The physical 2020 grad struck out 6 in his two innings of work while running his fastball up to 81 miles per hour complemented by a sharp 11/5 curveball at 65 miles per hour. 

Evan Shaw (2019 LHP, Fridley, MN) Struck out 7 in three innings while only allowing one hit. Evan features a fastball with arm side run at 82 miles per hour to go along with a sharp curveball that created a lot of swing and misses at 70 miles per hour. 

Kael Kolarik (2022 SS, Indianola, IA) Collected two hits in the game including a loud double into the left center field gap. Kolarik also threw two innings for the Gold team striking out 2 with a fastball with late run up to 75 miles per hour.

Batting Practice Highlights

Sam Wilt (2022 RHP, Anamosa, IA) Strong righthanded hitter working from a wide stance to start. Utilizes the lower half strength well with some rotational shifts into contact. Creates hard drive off the barrel when he’s able to square the ball up. Shows some power potential when able to get the head of the barrel to the ball.

Kael Kolarik (2022 SS, Indianola, IA) Utilizes a slightly elevated path to the ball with quick and strong hands at the point of contact. Made consistent loud contact working the pull side gap with efficiency. Gets on plane early and stays through with strong extension through the ball.

Alec Nigut (2020 OF, Des Moines, IA) Generated good bat speed with a direct and fluid swing path from the left side. Was able to drive the ball consistently to all fields with jump off the barrel. Naturally lifted plane looking to drive the ball deep into the gaps. Shifts well and found the barrel of the bat often.

Nile Foss (2020 LHP, Des Moines, IA) Works from a slightly open stance shifting into contact with linear actions. Works an inside path to the ball and can generate lift to all fields. Works his strong lower half well generating strong torque from the lower half and is able to drive the ball while staying consistent with contact.

Nick Banowetz (2020 C, Robins, IA) Swings the bat with intent from the right side and looks to get his hands to ball quickly. Hard line drive contact staying up the middle and work well struck contact to the gaps as well. Works well to contact turning the barrel and showing off his strength by generating a fast barrel to the baseball.

Joseph Harris (2020 1B, Marshalltown, IA) Strong and mature player with a solid lefthanded bat. Displays easy jump when turning the barrel and working his pull side. Made hard contact throughout the entire round of batting practice generate high end barrel speed that should translate well to in-game swings.

Andrue Henry (2020 1B, Dubuque, IA) Swings the bat with the intent to do damage working mostly to the middle of the field. Strong lower half with a clean shift into contact producing hard and loud jump off the barrel. Displays easy power to the pull side as well that can translate to extra base hits on the field.

Javier Martinez (2019 3B, Fuquay Varina, NC) Large frame with present throughout his build. Quickly gets the barrel head out in front and drives the ball to the middle of the field as well as to the pull side of the field. Utilizes a naturally lifted plane through the zone with a smooth swing. Manipulates the barrel well and drove the ball to the back of the net with every swing.  

Jacob Cinelli (2020 OF, Hartland, WI) Keeps the hands low to start and gets on plane early in trigger. Consistently worked the pull side of the field getting to contact out in front of the plate. Shows smoothness to plane and a high-end ability to consistently make line drive contact. One of the better contact-oriented hitters of the day that should produce a high batting average on field.

Soren Grant (2020 C, Minneapolis, MN) Really looks to get the ball in the air and drive it to the deep parts of the field. Swings the bat with intent to punish the baseball and was able to do so on a consistent basis. Works through an elevated swing path and produces a lot of backspin off the barrel of the bat.

Carter Baumler (2020 RHP, Grimes, IA) Stays short to the ball and works well through extension. Large frame and utilizes his lower half strength well with rotational shifts into contact. Stays short and tight to the ball able to drive the ball to the middle of the field well. One of the best pure hitters of the day.

Tyler Tscherter (2020 SS, Reinbeck, IA) Simple and repeatable mechanics in the box with the ability to work solid contact to all fields with ease. Has a smooth hand path and generates barrel speed through a slightly lifted plane. Consistently drove the ball from gap to gap.
