Royal vs Grey Game Highlights

4/29/2018

Nick Fleckenstein (2019 MIF, North Liberty, IA) Showed the ability to hit to all fields. Had a single up the middle and an RBI double down the right field line.

Jonah Hoeg (2020 1B, Prior Lake, MN) Showed some good power on a hard fly ball to deep center field for a double. Would come around to score.

Brock Booth (2022 RHP, Dubuque, IA) Threw three innings and didn't allow a hit. Struck out two batters. Got a lot of weak contact and threw a lot of strikes. Also doubled down the left field line.

Liam Stumpf (2021 OF, Dodgeville, WI) Was able to work the other way during the game. Hit a ball into right center field for a triple.

Casey Young (2020 LHP, Winterset, IA) Swings the bat really well and looks to pull the ball with power. Singled down the line and double on a ball to center field.

Nick Aide (2020 SS, Franklin, WI) Controls the barrel well. Drove a couple of outside pitches the other way for singles. Also threw a solid inning in relief.

Isaac Bender (2020 SS, Coralville, IA) Stayed up the middle of the field well. Had two singles right back up the middle.

Raphael (Ray Ray) Douglas (2019 OF, Sioux City, IA) Threw two innings without allowing a hit in relief. Had a lively fastball that toped at 87mph. Also collected a hit.









Orange vs White Game Highlights

Dylan Page (2021 C, Marion, IA) Doubled to deep right field in game action showing a naturally leveraged swing path with present strength at contact. 

Cy Patterson (2021 SS, Council Bluffs, IA) Patterson showed a balanced approached at the plate with feel for the barrel collecting 2 singles in the game. The 2021 grad also showed a projectable arm while on the mound topping at 83 miles per hour. 

Graysen Drezek (2020 RHP, Davenport, IA) The 2020 grad worked his fastball in the low 80's, topping at 84 miles per hour. Drezek consistently attack the strike zone early in counts and changed speeds late with an upper 60's breaking ball. Struck out 8 batters over 4 innings of work while allowing zero hits. 

Greg Norman (2019 LHP, Bradenton, FL) The lefty showed great feel for all three of his pitches with the ability to pitch backwards when need. The Florida native established his fastball early allowing to mix in his off speed very effectively. Norman induced a lot of week contact with both the slider and change up offering. 

Nick Buttolph (2020 1B, West Des Moines, IA) Collected two hits in the game including a home run to deep left field in his first at-bat of the day. Buttolph shows good strength in his swing, but has the barrel control to work the baseball to each gap. 

Gabriel Followell (2019 OF, Des Moines, IA) Doubled twice in three at-bats. Utilized a balanced approach and flashed the present bat speed to turn the barrel and drive the baseball to pull side with authority. 

Parker Wright (2020 RHP, Columbia, MO) The 6-foot-3, 190-pound right-handed pitcher dominated while on the mound allowing only 1 hit in 3 innings while striking out 8 batters. The 2020 grad has an electric fastball that produced sinking run to the bottom of the zone in the upper 80's, topped at 88 miles per hour. 

Gold vs Black Game Highlights

Logan Schmitt (2020 SS, Independence, IA) Collected a couple of hits in the game. A single back up the middle and a high home run to left that drove in a couple of runs.

Chase Keeney (2019 LHP, Cedar Rapids, IA) Had a triple to straight away center field that rolled to the wall. Would later come around and score.

Clayton Nettleton (2018 RHP, Davenport, IA) Started on the mound and threw a couple of solid innings. Struck out three batters and had command of the fastball in the upper 80s and a breaker that got swing and misses.

Sam Goodman (2019 RHP, Dubuque, IA) Allowed just one hit in three innings on the mound. Filled the zone early and often with a good combination of fastball and curveball. Also collected a couple of base hits in the game.

Levi Usher (2018 OF, Fairfax, IA) Had a couple of singles in the game. Showed off good speed with a couple of stolen bases.

Bo Richmond (2019 C, Henrico, VA) Drove in a couple runs late in the game. Had two hits in the game and was able to work the whole field.

Aaron Downs (2021 SS, Pella, IA) Swung the bat well collecting two hits. Is able to handle the bat as well as showing off some speed and fielding ability.

Nic McCay (2018 RHP, Carlisle, IA) Started on the mound and tossed three solid innings. Allowed just three hits while striking out four batters. Mixed well and showed good depth to curveball.







Royal vs White Game Highlights

4/28/2018

Keaton Gray (2020 SS, Ankeny, IA) Went 2 for 2 in the game. Singled in first at bat. Drove in two runs on a hard hit ball off the wall in left field. Good strength in swing.

Liam Stumpf (2021 OF, Dodgeville, WI) Had an extra base hit in first at bat. Hit a line drive into the left center field game and would later come around to score.

Ty Carlson (2021 1B, Muscatine, IA) Had a big hit late in the game. Got good barrel turn a ball that was hit to deep right field for an easy triple.

Casey Young (2020 LHP, Winterset, IA) Drove in a couple of runs late in the game. Triple to deep center field on a ball that rolled to the fence. Also pitched three good innings. Good fastball with life at 84.

Dylan Page (2021 C, Marion, IA) Two solid innings of work in relief. Pitched two perfect innings while striking out three. Has command of pitches.

Derek Einertson (2021 OF, Norwalk, IA) Utilizes a line drive path to the ball. Collected two base hits in the middle of the field.

Ben Schwartz (2020 3B, Ames, IA) Is smart on the bases and really had a presence. Doubled on a ball hit to short right center field.

Colin Streff (2021 LHP, Marion, IA) Closed the game out with three good innings. Allowed just one hit. Induced weak contact the entire outing with a fastball at 77












Orange vs Gold Game Highlights

4/28/2018

Gavyn Ashley (2018 SS, Muscatine, IA) Showed good strength when barreling the baseball lining a double into the  outfield gap. Also pitch working a fastball up to 80 miles per hour that flashed solid run to arm side. 

Brayden Frazier (2018 MIF, Cedar Rapids, IA) The Iowa commit squared up a few balls throughout the game, but double to deep right field in  his last at-bat. Frazier utilizes a clean, naturally lifted barrel plane that generates plenty of present bat speed. 

Drake Frazier (2019 OF, Cedar Rapids, IA) Collected two hits in the game utilizing an aggressive approach at the plate. Drake shows good raw bat speed that produces loud, hard contact when squared. 

John Kemp (2019 OF, Burien, WA) The Washington native collected 3 hits in 4 trips to the plate including a double to deep right field. The 2019 grad displayed good balance at the plate with the ability to control the barrel throughout the hitting zone. 

Carter Baumler (2020 RHP, Grimes, IA) The 6-foo-2, 190-pound uncommitted pitcher was fantastic on the mound working 2 perfect innings. Baumler attacked the strike zone with his fastball sitting 87-89 but also showed the ability to buckle hitters with a sharp sweeping slider as well.

Logan Smith (2020 RHP, Grimes, IA) Smith worked 3 innings striking out 5 batters. The 2020 grads fastball produced steep downhill tilt through the zone that induced weak ground ball contact in the low 80's, topped at 83 miles per hour. 

Clayton Hromidko (2019 RHP, Ely, IA) The 6-foot, 175-pound right handed pitcher showed a live arm while on the mound with a fastball that topped at 85 miles per hour. When staying in rhythm, Hromidko's showed good feel for the fastball with late run.

Alex Pendergast (2020 MIF, West Des Moines, IA) Showed quick hands at the plate with the ability to turn the barrel with aggression. Doubled to deep left field on a fastball located to the inner edge of the plate. 

Aaron Downs (2021 SS, Pella, IA) Worked 2 innings on the mound not allowing a hit. The 2021 grad showed a heavy running fastball that jumped on hitters well in the low to mid 80's, topped at 85 miles per hour. Downs attacked the strike zone early with fastball and flashed feel for a breaking ball.

Batting Practice Highlights

4/28/2018

Adam Schneider (2019 SS, Altoona, IA) The Altoona, IA native utilized a compact hand path to contact that generated a clean line drive barrel plane through the zone. Schneider consistently worked to the middle of the field but flashed the bat speed to run the barrel and work pull side as well.

Jack Young (2020 SS, Leclaire, IA) The 2020 grad repeatable a clean, fluid line drive swing plane throughout batting practice. Young flashed solid bat speed that created good jump to the gaps when squared.

Jevon Mason (2018 OF, West Des Moines, IA) Mason, an Iowa Western CC commit displayed good strength at plate with natural leverage. The West Des Moines, IA native drove the  ball with authority to pull side and projects for additional power with maturity.

Aaron Downs (2021 SS, Pella, IA) The 2020 prospect utilized an aggressive approach while generating present bat speed through extension. Downs looked to drive the ball through each gap with intent yet was able to maintain balance throughout his swing.

Drake Frazier (2019 OF, Cedar Rapids, IA) Frazier, a South Dakota State commit, consistently drove the ball with authority throughout batting practice. The 2019 grad utilized a clean, linear barrel plane that produced natural leverage. Frazier continuously drove the ball through the gaps with ease.

Coy Sarsfield (2021 OF, Marion, IA) The Marion, IA native generated good bat speed with present strength for his 5-foot-8 frame. Sarsfield utilized an uphill swing  plane that created tight back spin off the barrel to each gap.

Levi Usher (2018 OF, Fairfax, IA) Usher, a Perfect Game All-American Classic Participant, showed a extremely smooth swing path that created easy bat speed through the zone. Usher consistently barreled the baseball throughout batting practice showing the ability to control the bat head with ease.

Casey Sole (2019 C, Cedar Falls, IA) A Southeast Missouri State commit, utilized a naturally leveraged swing path that generated good carry to the gaps. Sole stays behind contact well maintaining a strong, powerful hitting position to all parts of the zone.

Benji Brokemond (2019 SS, Chicago, IL) The Miami (OH) commit consistently drove the baseball to all parts of the  field using a very simple, repeatable line drive barrel plane. Brokemond shows excellent barrel control that well play well at the top of the order at the next level.

Jonah Hoeg (2020 1B, Prior Lake, MN) The Prior Lake, MN native consistently drove the ball to each gap while utilizing a balanced approach. Hoeg generated good linear shift into contact with his lower half that produces solid strength at the point of contact.

Alex Pendergast (2020 MIF, West Des Moines, IA) The 2020 grad showed good balance throughout his swing while attacking the baseball with aggression. The West Des Moines, IA native displayed good raw power at the plate with solid carry to the pull side gap.

Carter Baumler (2020 RHP, Grimes, IA) Baumler, a primary right handed pitcher, also impressed at the plate today. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect produced very good leverage at contact and consistently barrel to ball to the middle of the field. The 2020 grad also showed the ability to turn to barrel with aggression driving two balls off to  left field wall in batting practice.

Nick Buttolph (2020 1B, West Des Moines, IA) The 6-foot-2, 235-pound first baseman displayed excellent strength at the plate with projectable raw power. Buttolph looked to connect with the baseball out front while aggressive turning the barrel to contact.

Brendan Wienold (2019 OF, Chicago, IL) The outfield prospect out of Chicago, IL utilized a fluid, slightly lifted barrel plane to create hard contact throughout batting practice. Wineold swing with intent, but is able to maintain his balance to use each gap.

Casey Young (2020 LHP, Winterset, IA) Young was another primary pitcher who swung the bat well during batting practice. The 2020 grad utilized a balance, mid field approach. Showed good fluidity throughout his swing with solid jump off the barrel when working to pull side.


Grey vs Black Game Highlights

4/28/2018

Malik Staples (2019 OF, Lynwood, IL) Put the barrel on the ball consistently. Collected two hits in the game. A hard hit single to left field and a single into right.

Tate Kuehner (2019 LHP, Marshalltown, IA) Started the game with four solid innings. Didn't allow a hit and struck out five batters. Good fastball up to 81 mph. Induced a lot of weak contact
 
Adam Brauch (2020 SS, Waukee, IA) Doubled down the left field line to start the game. Showed ability to hit to all fields on a hard ground ball to right field.

DJ Heck (2019 OF, Iowa City, IA) Reached base all three times he came to bat. Has a line drive plane through the zone. Both hits were hard into left field.

Luke Paulson (2019 OF, Woodbury, MN) Had two hits in the game. Drove in two runs on a hard ball that left the park in left field for a home run.

Gregory Hall (2019 RHP, Cedar Rapids, IA) Showed off some speed beating out a couple of infield ground balls. Had a presence on the bases. Also closed the game out with four innings of work. allowed just three hits while striking out four. Worked fastball down at 80 mph.

Jonah Hoeg (2020 1B, Prior Lake, MN) Has a middle of the field approach. Collected a couple of hard hit balls right back up the middle for two singles.

Austin Simpson (2019 1B, Fairfield, IA) Worked the middle of the field. Drove a ball right back up the middle for a single. Singled later in the game on a ground ball past the shortstop.

Logan Schmitt (2020 SS, Independence, IA) Came on with two innings of relief. Allowed just one hit while striking out three. Good curveball and fastball mix topping at 81 mph.
