6-Cardinal vs. 10-Steel Highlights

8/27/2017

Adam Love (2020 OF, Roswell, GA) launched a home run deep over the pull side fence early in the game. Love showed tremendous strength in his wrists to pull his hands inside and enough leverage to utilize his lower half through the swing that resulted in a big fly. He also threw on the mound and showed a nice changeup.

Kyle Booker (2020 OF, Southaven, MS) showed a strong approach at the plate taking good at-bats and taking advantage of the pitches he was looking for. Booker collected an extra base hit early in the game and showed off some athleticism by hustling around the bases.

Jonathan Hemings (2019 1B, Duluth, GA) showed really good plate coverage and strength through contact with a pull-side double to the gap. The pitch was on the outer half of the plate and Hemings extended well to get the barrel head on it and drive the ball to the right centerfield gap for extra bases.

Emmett Descherer (2021 C, Charleston, SC) showed a fluid and easy swing with good pop as he adjusted well to a two-strike changeup. Descherer hit the ball well out in front with enough strength to drive the ball to the pull side gap and hustle around the bases for a triple.

William Stewart (2019 LHP, Nashville, TN) delivered a strong start on the mound with a really good feel for his curveball. The pitch had late tilt and break to it and he threw it from a similar arm speed as his fastball.

Jaden Woods (2020 LHP, Warner Robins, GA) knocked in multiple hits on the day. He has an easy lefthanded swing with good contact skills and the ability to drive the ball to the opposite field. Woods also threw and struck out five batters while allowing very minimal hard hit contact.

Daniel Powell (2019 SS, Grove Hill, AL) was all over the scoresheet and was an impact player for the Steel team. He had two hits on the day as well as knocking in a run and scoring one himself.

Michael Convery (2019 1B, Roswell, GA) had a very quick inning on the mound. He worked his fastball in the low-80s and racked up three strikeouts while showing a solid feel for his curveball.

BP standouts

8/26/2017

Bruce (Trey) Thomas III (2021 3B, Alma, GA) is a young right handed hitter with an aggressive swing and the young ability to top spin the ball and drive it to the middle of the field and the pull side.  His approach will serve him well as he gets bigger and stronger.

James Nunez (2020 OF, East Elmhurst, NY) stood out for his calm and confident approach and for the fact that he was timed up from the very first pitch.  He looked like a polished hitter who already has good bat speed and the ability to square up the ball.

Nate Shipley (2020 OF, Marietta, GA) has a long and very projectable 6-2/160 build and plenty of leverage and lift in his right handed swing.  He has good present bat speed for an incoming sophomore and lots of loose extension through contact.

Sean Smith (2021 1B, Pascagoula, MS) had the best raw power at the Underclass despite being one of the youngest player.  It's a simple approach with good timing, big bat speed and hard lifting impact.  Follow this young right handed hitter closely!

Hunter Lautzenheiser (2020 OF, Gallatin, TN) uses his lower half very well to help create big bat speed and his 6-1/195 build has plenty of strength in those hips and legs to do that.  He's a left handed hitter with lots of future juice in his bat.

Marcerio Allen (2019 MIF, Decatur, GA) is a switch-hitting middle infielder with present bat speed from both sides of the plate, driven by quick hands and an aggressive approach.

Ty Floyd (2020 SS, Rockmart, GA) has a very projectable 6-2/180 build that stands out right away in the batter's box.  His right handed swing is a bit long at present but there is lots of bat speed and hard impact in his swing that can be further developed.

Blaze McCauley (2019 C, Dacula, GA) hits from a very spread stance with a reverse stride but does a good job of utilizing his strength and quick hands to create bat speed and consistently square up the ball with hard line drive contact.

Benjamin Olson (2019 C, Acworth, GA) has a fundamentally strong right handed swing with shortness to contact and present bat speed that produced consistent hard line drive contact to the middle of the field.  The ball comes off his barrel hard.

Landon Rascoe (2019 RHP, Hattiesburg, MS) threw in the mid-80's from the mound but he has a chance to be a two-way prospect as well, with a loose and tension free swing that had outstanding extension through contact and plenty of bat speed.

Wyatt England (2020 RHP, Watkinsville, GA) is another young primary pitcher who is at least as good a prospect with a bat in his hand.  He had one of the best BP rounds of the day, with a strong and fluid swing with present bat speed and the ability to drive the ball.

John Anderson (2020 2B, Grayson, GA) really hammered the ball during his round, showing a very consistent approach with quick hands and a well timed swing.  He looked like a young man who really works hard on his hitting and on getting strong in the right places.

Drew DeMasi (2019 1B, Stone Mountain, GA) has plenty of strength in his compact 5-10/205 build and a short and strong swing that can impact the ball hard.  A bit more extension through contact could unlock even more power in his swing.

Bryce Jeske (2019 3B, Chapel Hill, NC) hits from a big coiled load that gets his 6-0/185 body into his swing well and is well timed in all his moving parts and very consistent.  The ball came off his barrel hard with lots of gap to gap contact with carry.

Corbin Shaw (2020 3B, Conyers, GA) has a long and extended right handed swing that may need shortening against higher level pitching but he also has easy plus power and juice in his right handed swing, especially for such a young hitter.

Ryan Suppa (2019 RHP, Acworth, GA) is a very strong armed pitcher who was up to 90 from the mound (and 91 mph during infield drills!) so his future might not be in the batter's box.  But he looked like he had the hitting tools to be a two-way player at the right college.

Hunter Bryson (2020 SS, Waynesville, NC) gets to his front side early but has very quick hands that he keeps back well and fires at the right time to make consistent hard line drive contact.  He projects well physically with a young athletic build as well.

Matthew Peak (2020 OF, Auburn, AL) is a left handed hitter with lots of projection in his young 5-11/160 build and a smooth and fluid swing with good present bat speed and a consistent swing approach that resulted in lots of hard line drive pull contact.

Hunter Sute (2021 C, Tuscaloosa, AL) had outstanding had quickness and barrel timing for a 2021 athlete and projects as a very high average hitter with the potential to use those barrel skills to develop some pop down the road as he matures physically.

Ben Schorr (2020 C, Columbus, GA) had a very polished and well coached approach to hitting that he executed consistently and well.  He was timed up immediately with a strong right handed swing and solid present bat speed.

8/26/2017

13-Purple vs. 14-Orange Highlights

8/26/2017

Colby Masters (2020 RHP, Augusta, GA) worked up to 84 mph and showed a clean and easy arm action in the process. Masters did a good job at creating downhill plane with the fastball that he worked to both sides and showed confidence in his 12/6 curve with solid depth.

Charlie Goldstein (2019 LHP, Alpharetta, GA) was just as impressive through three innings while only one hit. Goldstein throws from a higher slot and creates a very difficult angle with his fastball up to 84 mph. The curveball had nice depth to it and the changeup was very effective at garnering swings-and-misses.

Dhruv Patel (2019 RHP, Atlanta, GA) made for a very difficult at-bat, especially against hitters of the same handedness. The lower three-quarter slot combined with late sink and run created a ton of weakly hit ground balls; combined with his very good side-to-side command he was hard to square up.

Mason Gentry (2020 OF, Ball Ground, GA) made an outstanding grab in centerfield. He got an incredible read and jump off the bat and laid out for the full extension grab. Gentry also added a single in the game to show his tools both on offense and defense.

Cole Hendrix (2020 RHP, Spring Hill, TN) collected a pair of base knocks during the action. Hendrix had a nice, easy swing that flashed some bat speed and was able to create line drives.

Grayson Dato (2020 RHP, Milton, GA) got extended over the outer half of the plate and drove a ball deep to right centerfield. Dato hustled around the bases while showing off his aggressiveness to score the inside-the-park-HR.

Austin Clark (2020 RHP, Woodstock, GA) turned in the second inside-the-park-HR of the inning during the bottom half. Clark put a quick, short swing on the ball that got past the diving centerfielder and hustled around the bases to score himself.

Jacob Rousseau (2020 OF, Oxford, MS) turned in a pair of hits including a triple to the pull side line late in the game, The short, lofted swing allowed him to hit the line drive sharply and he showed off the 6.8-60 speed by hustling quickly around the bases.

11- Gold Vs. 12- Navy highlights

8/26/2017

Carter Gannaway (2019 RHP/3B, Decatur, AL) topped out at 87mph on his fastball today while mixing in a slider at 74mph and his changeup at 78mph. Gannaway pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot with throwing real easy with a smooth repeatable delivery. Gannaway did a good job of maintaining his velo throughout his whole appearance mixing in all 3 of his pitches for strike consistently. Gannaway also shined at the plate this afternoon. Gannaway has power potential with bat speed and did a good job of consistently squaring the ball up in the game today.

Chris Potter (2019 C, Chickamauga, GA) singled twice in the game for the Navy team. Potter displayed good bat speed at the plate making consistent contact and is a gap to gap hitter.

Carson Howard (2021 SS, Pike Road, AL) made hard contact all 3 times up this afternoon including doubling in his second at bat. Howard has a good approach at the plate with a fluid swing and hits the ball to all fields.

Hunter Haley (2020 C, Canton, MS) had 3 hits in the game singling twice and doubling once. Haley has a strong build with an aggressive approach at the plate and a fluid swing through the zone.

Mason Patel (2020 RHP/3B, Knoxville, TN) sat 81-84mph on his fastball with his curveball at 72mph and his changeup at 75mph. Patel has a quick delivery with a short loose arm action and does a good job of hiding the ball in his delivery. Patel has arm side run to his fastball and showed a good feel for his changeup which he does a good job of maintaining his arm speed on. At the plate Patel singled 3 times he came up to the plate today. Patel has a sound approach at the plate with a smooth swing and has bat speed.

Mason Carnes (2019 3B, McDonough, GA) had 3 hits today including tripling in his last at bat. Carnes has an aggressive approach at the plate with bat speed and is a gap to gap hitter with pop.

7-Columbia Blue vs. 8-Royal Highlights

8/26/2017

Jacob Atha (2019 RHP, Fayetteville, GA) showed quality arm speed and a fastball up to 85 mph that had late run to it. He mixed in a tight breaking ball that was able to be thrown for strikes and as well as for swings and misses; he struck out four batters in three innings.

Jackson McCart (2019 C, Macon, GA) put a charge into a mistake pitch as he launched a high fastball for a ground rule double. He kept his weight back and let the ball travel deep while doing a good job at getting extended and letting the barrel head drive the ball to the pull side.

Marcerio Allen (2019 MIF, Decatur, GA) did a good job at keeping weight back and going to the opposite field for a triple early in the game. He also showed off his 6.8 speed by beating out a ground ball single and collected a total of three hits with a sound overall approach.

Brady Barnes (2019 RHP, Decatur, AL) had the swing-and-miss stuff working during his outing as he racked up six strikeouts in three innings. The arm speed stood out as did his ability to maintain velocity; the changeup was an impressive secondary pitch with replicated arm speed and good downward tumble. He added an opposite field triple later on in the game.

Gabe Garner (2019 RHP, Madison, MS) worked up to 86 mph early on with much more int he tank. The arm action is compact and whippy though the path with requisite arm speed and the slider flashed high potential early on as a swing-and-miss offering. Garner collected two hits at the dish with a gap-to-gap approach that included two doubles.

Zac Rice (2020 OF, Fort Mitchell, AL) showed a short, repeatable swing that resulted in two hits on the afternoon. Rice has a line drive swing plane with natural loft and is able to handle tough pitches low in the zone to elevate.

Matt Riley (2019 RHP, Hendersonville, TN) has a very large and projectable frame with excellent athleticism. He ran his fastball up to 85 mph with excellent cutting life to it. Riley generates very good extension down the mound which helps his stuff play up.
