2-Cardinal vs. 4-White Highlights

8/27/2017

Dean Colton (2019 C, Brookhaven, GA) tossed two solid innings and was able to run his fastball up to 84 mph. He showed a feel for three pitches including a curveball with tight 12/6 shape and showed off his arm strength by maintaining his velocity well.

Ikumi Matsuya (2018 2B, Urayasu, CH) again showed off his feel for handling the barrel with two hits on the day. He can create hard hit contact to all fields and also showed off some impressive speed with a 4.3 second time to first base.

Joseph Freitas (2018 LHP, Cumming, GA) tagged a first pitch fastball for a loud double over the head of the right fielder. He turned on an inside fastball well and flashed some bat speed with the ability to create backspin by knocking the ball fairly hard to the pull side.

Bryce Lawrence (2019 3B, Dallas, GA) impressed with very good bat speed from the left side. The swing is naturally lofted and he did a good job at extending well out in front of the plate to impact the ball hard for a triple to the pull side gap.

Preston Hagan (2018 SS, Lawrenceville, GA) showed a very athletic delivery and a fastball that sat in the low-80s for the duration of his outing. He mixed in a curveball that flashed sharpness an showed very good command of the fastball to the arm side of the plate.

Griffin Bonner (2018 RHP, Buford, GA) collected two hits on the day including an infield single that showcased his sub-7.0 60 speed. Bonner also showed good plate coverage as he took an outside pitch to right field for a hard hit single.

Nathan Massey (2018 C, Columbia, TN) showed an aggressive swing and launched a hard hit home run to the pull side late in the game. He stayed back on a two-strike changeup and deposited the pitch over the left field wall while showing the ability to impact the ball with a lot of strength.

Ethan Foley (2018 2B, Canton, GA) collected two hits and also showed impressive skills on the mound. Foley showed good feel for the barrel of the bat and the ability to drive the ball to the opposite field and had a low effort delivery with a projectable arm action and delivery.

1- Black Vs. 3- Green

8/27/2017

Nolan Daniel (2018 RHP, Dublin, GA) sat 86-88mph on his fastball this morning with his slider at 80mph.  Daniel has a strong lower half with a deliberated paced delivery pitching from a 3/4 arm slot. Daniel does a good job of using both sides of the plate with running life to his fastball and maintained his velo throughout his outing.

Michael Caldwell (2018 RHP, Marietta, GA) topped out at 86mph this morning while mixing in his slider at 78mph. Caldwell has a strong lower half with a short arm action pitching from a high 3/4 arm slot. Caldwell has cut action to his fastball with good command of his slider that he mixes in well.

Elijah Dale (2019 SS/RHP, Saint Louis, MO) sat 82-84mph with his fastball mixing in his curveball at 75mph. Dale works quick on the mound pounding the strike zone with all his pitches, his curveball has sharp hard bite to it.

Xavier Wilson (2018 MIF, Lithonia, GA) had 3 hits in the day including tripling in the game this morning. Wilson has a quick bat with an aggressive approach at the plate and has good speed on the bases.

Chris Acosta (2018 OF, Lawrenceville, GA) had 2 hits in the game including doubling for the Black team today. Acosta has a line drive swing plane with a confident approach at the plate and pop in his bat.

Braden Albright (2018 RHP, Cumming, GA) topped out at 87mph on his fastball with his slider at 78mph. Albright has a very deliberate delivery with an arm that works. Albright throws a slider with good shape and late break and consistently throws it for strikes.

William Hamiter (2019 SS, Tuscaloosa, AL) doubled twice and added a triple in the game for the Green team today. Hamiter consistently squared the ball up in the game today with bat speed and hit the ball to all fields.

Jerry Hammons (2018 SS, Cookeville, TN) had a home run in the game for the Green team today. Hammons has bat speed with lift in his swing and lots of pop.

8/26/2017

Xavier Wilson (2018 MIF, Lithonia, GA) swings with intent and does so with lots of raw bat speed.  He later showed he could take that bat speed into the box against live pitching when he pulled a game home run to left field.

Elijah Dale (2019 SS, Saint Louis, MO) is a switch-hitter with a nice swing from both sides of the plate and a bit more bat speed and feel from the right side, where he made solid mid field line drive contact.

Ryan De Leon (2018 SS, Cooper City, FL) is another young middle infielder who swings hard with lots of intent and can drive the ball.  DeLeon is only 5-7 but packs lots of quick twitch muscle onto his frame.

Jacob Pitts (2018 OF, Smyrna, GA) is 6-2/165 and can get plenty stronger and he already has a smooth and polished right handed swing that should already produce a high batting average and would improve with that additional strength.

Bryce Lawrence (2019 3B, Dallas, GA) hits from a tall and narrow open stance and moves through the ball well, producing a lifting left handed swing with plenty of bat speed and power potential.

Robert Tillman (2019 OF, Columbus, GA) showed some of the best power of the day, helped by his ability to impart lots of back spin on the ball and get extra carry to the pull side.

Myles Austin (2019 SS, Smyrna, GA) is one of the most projectable athletes in the 2019 class and showed very good raw bat speed and a strong fundamental swing in working the middle of the field with hard line drives.

Gavin Lee (2019 OF, McDonough, GA) is a strength based hitter with a limited shift into contact but strong hands that generate lots of bat speed from a low hand start that gives him some gap to gap lift.

Jared Smith (2018 C, Gainesville, GA) has a huge hanging leg lift load that may leave him vulnerable to timing issues against good pitching but he has no problem showing his bat speed and hitting ability in batting practice.  The tools are there.

Cole Phillips (2018 OF, Trion, GA) is a big left handed hitter at 6-2/205 with a power approach at the plate.   He seemed keyed in on the top of the right field fence, as a few feet more carry on a number of balls would have given him multiple BP home runs.

3- Green Vs. 4- White highlights

8/26/2017

Sawyer Stevens (2018 RHP, Athens, AL) was 80-84 om his fastball today with his curveball at 69mph and his changeup at 76mph. Stevens has an online delivery with a good quick arm action pitching from a low 3/4 arm slot. Stevens throws a heavy fastball getting on hitters quick and mixing in his off-speed pitches well.

Caleb Irwin (2018 RHP, Marble, NC) sat 81-84mph on his fastball with his curveball at 70mph. Irwin has a balanced smooth delivery with repeatable mechanics and throws easy. Irwin has good life to his fastball using both sides of the plate to throw strikes and mixes in his curveball consistently for strikes.

William Hamiter (2019 SS, Tuscaloosa, AL) had a good showing at the plate this morning. Hamiter gets good extension at the plate with a smooth swing and hits the ball to all fields.

Joseph Freitas (2018 LHP, Cumming, GA) sat 81-84mph on his fastball with his curveball at 68mph. Freitas has a deceptive delivery hiding the ball well pitching from a high 3/4 arm slot. Freitas displayed good command of his pitches with good depth to his curveball and tight rotation.

Gavin Lee (2019 OF, McDonough, GA) showed off his bat this morning singling and homering for the Green team. Lee gets good extension at the plate with lots of bat speed and has lift in his swing.

1-Black vs. 2-Cardinal Highlights

8/26/2017

Cole Garrett (2018 RHP, Marietta, GA) worked a very quick three innings and racked up a ton of swings and misses with his fastball within the strike zone to showcase his arm speed. Garrett showed a feel for three pitches including a changeup with pretty good downward action.

Elijah Dale (2019 SS, Saint Louis, MO) showed off some raw strength and power with a double that one-hopped the wall in right centerfield. There was natural leverage to his swing and he did a good job at getting the bat head out in front.

Jack Mahoney (2018 LHP, Latham, NY) showed quality pitchability while mixing his three pitches well. The fastball was able to work to both sides of the plate with a loose and easy arm action and he showed a quality slider that flashed short bite to it.

Preston Hagan (2018 SS, Lawrenceville, GA) had a quality showing with an opposite field double. He was aggressive on the base paths and took advantage of a shallow fly ball to swipe the extra base. Hagan has natural loft to the swing path and collected two hits.

Jacob Pitts (2018 OF, Smyrna, GA) showed off his arm strength from right field as he hosed a runner trying to advance home by a considerable margin. The arm strength is a strong tool and he also showed the ability to drive the ball to the opposite field with a double that split the outfielders while tripling later on in the game .

Ishmael Martin (2018 C, Atlanta, GA) had a lot of hard hit contact during the game which included a single and a double down the line to the pull side. Martin showed good bat speed through the point of extension and enough strength to allow the ball to jump off the barrel.

Xavier Wilson (2018 MIF, Lithonia, GA) made a large impact on the offensive side of the ball. Wilson's speed and defensive instincts allowed him to swipe multiple bases easily while his bat speed and natural loft saw him crush a no-doubter to the pull side with a righteous bat flip.

Ikumi Matsuya (2018 2B, Urayasu, CH) displayed a balanced, and contact-oriented swing approach while winding up with four hits on the day. Matsuya shifted his weight well into contact and showed off a short, fluid stroke with the ability to hit the ball hard to all fields.

Bryce Lawrence (2019 3B, Dallas, GA) showed a compact swing through the zone and quick wrists as well. Lawrence covers the outer third of the plate well and was strong enough to turn an outside fastball into a double over the head of the left fielder in the oppiste field.

Harrison Haley (2018 RHP, Canton, MS) ran his fastball up to 86 mph and showed off a projectable arm in the process. The arm stroke is long and loose through the path with a low effort delivery and confidence in his breaking ball to throw the pitch in any count.

Nolan Daniel (2018 RHP, Dublin, GA) showed good pitch recognition in the box and a contact-oriented approach as he racked up two hits during the action.

Chip Burch (2018 1B, Eastman, GA) had good feel for the barrel and could create jump. He torqued his lower half well off a line drive swing plane for a couple of hard hit knocks.

Myles Austin (2019 SS, Smyrna, GA) turned in the highest velocity of the game while bumping 90 mph in the final inning. There's excellent arm speed with good feel for a curveball that flash sharpness. He also added a two singles and an RBI earlier in the game.
