Black vs. Red Game Highlights

9/18/2022

The Red team wasted no time in getting the bats going in the final game of the event as Julian Glasgow (2026 SS, New York, NY) turned on the second pitch he saw and put it down the third base line, knocking off the bag, for a single. Simon Bakker (2024 OF, Carmel, NY) followed him up with a single of his own to center field, picking up right where he left off in yesterday's action.

Glasgow continued to swing it in his next at-bat of the game for a line drive RBI double to give him a 2-for-2 game to wrap up the showcase.

Matthew Shea (2026 RHP, Killingworth, CT) quickly settled in on the mound and was able to escape a jam with a quick pick off move and a bevy of strikes. His fastball topped out at 79 mph and worked around the zone and his feel for both a changeup and breaking ball helped him pick up a couple of strike outs on the day.

Brendan Owens (2024 RHP, Methuen, MA)showed off a quick arm stroke through the backside and ran the fastball up to 81 mph which he located in the bottom of the zone well, generates short sinking life to induce some weak ground ball contact. He also showed a big curveball in the mid-60s with 12-6 shape and a harder, mid-70s slider with short horizontal bite.

After a couple of loud barrels during the first game that ultimately went for outs, Fayz Baig (2025 LHP, Marlborough, CT) got a knock to go his way in his first AB of the final game, sending a pitch for up the middle for a hard ground single. Langdon Hazen (2025 RHP, Underhill, VT) followed up with a single of his own, depositing a line drive into right field.

White vs. Black Game Highlights

9/18/2022

Alex Cook (2024 LHP, Dover, NH) showed some barrel skill yesterday before jumping on the mound and impressing on the final day. An athletically built left-hander, Cook ran his fastball up to 87 mph with a quick arm stroke, mixing in both a breaking ball as well as a two-seamer that showed some late darting life.

Brian Stone (2026 OF, New York, NY) fought off a couple of tough pitches in his first at-bat of the game before sending a barreled single back up the middle off of an 80 mph fastball, securing the first knock of the game for his club.

The Black offense received a spark at the end of the 4th inning with back-to-back knocks. Brayden Edwards (2026 LHP, South Windsor, CT) continued to show comfort in handling the barrel as he slapped a single through the 6-hole while Kaden Cole (2024 RHP, Merrick, NY), who also struck out 3 in his 3 innings of work on the mound and was up to 77 mph, dumped a single into the triangle behind first base for another hit.

White vs. Red Game Highlights

9/18/2022

Owen Mongeon (2026 OF, Shrewsbury, MA) picked up another base knock on day two, this time keeping his hands tight to inside/out a well struck line drive into right field.

Langdon Hazen (2025 RHP, Underhill, VT) was efficient on the mound as he repeatedly filled the strike zone with a fastball that bumped 81 mph while living low in the zone with some sinking life while mixing both a curveball and changeup around the zone as well.

Robert (Tre) Dowd (2024 1B, Woburn, MA) worked the count to his favor and got a fastball he could handle, shooting it back up the middle for a barreled single. Justin Yemm (2025 SS, Plandome, NY) followed a couple batters later and did a nice job of getting his arms extended on a pitch that fell in front of the left fielder for a single.

Aniel Del Orbe (2023 OF, New York, NY) put both his bat speed/strength combo on display as well as his speed and overall athleticism late in game one. After lining a pitch hard through the right side for a barreled single, Del Obre quickly stole second before also swiping third, coming around to score on an over throw.

Black vs. White Game Highlights

9/17/2022

Rigo Mercedes (2025 SS, East Elmhurst, NY) got the scoring started for the White squad as he sat back on a curveball and made an adjustment with his hands, showing nice barrel control in the process, to turn on the pitch and send a single down the third base line.

Aidan Lynch (2023 C, Pembroke, MA) picked up his first knock of the showcase, turning on a pitch through to the pull side of a single in the bottom of the first.

Just as he showed in the first game, Alex Cook (2024 LHP, Dover, NH) made things happen offensively for the White club as he shot a single thru the three-hole before swiping second base within the next two pitches. Cook again singled later in the game, this time through the 6-hole to plate another run for White.

Anthony Marino (2025 C, Utica, NY) took the offense into his own hands following a single that he send back up the middle as he promptly stole second base two pitches following his knock before stealing third and advancing to home on the over throw, showing off his high motor.

Cesar Gonzalez (2024 C, Springfield, MA) was mentioned in the game prior for his abilities with the bat and arm strength behind the dish, something he brought with him to the mound in this look as he ran his fastball up to 90 mph, an event best thru the first day with a feel for the slider.

White vs. Red Game Highlights

9/17/2022

Cesar Gonzalez (2024 C, Springfield, MA) will immediately catch your attention with his arm strength from behind  the plate, throwing 80 mph during drills and continued to show big carry in between innings. He was just as impressive with the bat throughout the game, picking up a pair of hits which included a deep triple to center field and an RBI single in his first at-bat.

Traigh Skiffington (2025 RHP, East Longmeadow, MA) was excellent on the mound throughout his three innings of work, running his fastball up to 85 mph with big life from a lower slot, making for an uncomfortable at-bat. As if the fastball wasn't enough, Skiffington showed comfort throwing both a slider and changeup, both of which showed late and hard life through the zone.

Simon Bakker (2024 OF, Carmel, NY) now has two loud barrels over the first two games of the Fall Connecticut Showcase with the latest coming in the form of a well struck double to the opposite field gap in which he got fully extended and drove the ball with authority.

Luke Williams (2026 SS, Murrysville, PA) is a 2026 commit and showed some of the smoother actions in the infield, coming in on a charge play while making a strong throw across his body to complete the play.

Black vs. Red Game Highlights

9/17/2022

Braydon Sturino (2024 RHP, New Milford, CT) showed a quiet and consistent delivery working up to a higher slot, running his fastball up to 83 mph short life through the zone while also showing nice feel for spin. He also helped his own cause with the bat in his hand, sending a loud double out to the right-center field gap in his first at-bat of the game.

Connor Niemiec (2024 RHP, Westfield, MA) came out attacking hitters with a fastball that bumped 85 mph in the first inning, missing bats up in the zone while repeating mechanics. His breaker also showed nice slurve finish, missing some bats while keeping hitters off balance.

Brayden Edwards (2026 LHP, South Windsor, CT) got the offense started for the Black team as he sat back on a two-strike breaking ball and got more than enough barrel on it, sending a single over the head of the third baseman.

Kaden Cole (2024 RHP, Merrick, NY) followed with a two-strike knock of his own, executing a crisp hit-and-run to send Edwards on to third, connecting for a line drive single the other way through the three-hole.

Rounding out the offensive inning for Black was TJ Messina (2023 2B, Greenwich, CT) who sent a line drive of his own the other way, sinking down into the outfield while plating the first run of the game.

Owen Palmer (2025 SS, Woodbury, CT) put perhaps the best swing of the day on a ball in his first at-bat, keeping his hands inside the ball while lining it the other way with authority for a loudly struck line drive single.

Matthew Shea (2026 RHP, Killingworth, CT) kept the offense rolling after a nice showing in his round of BP as he got his arms fully extended and connected for a double out to his pull side which continued to carry off of the barrel.

Simon Bakker (2024 OF, Carmel, NY)wasted little Time in his first at-bat in making his presence felt as he sent a pitch right back up the middle, connecting for a hard line drive single to kickstart the offense.

Fayz Baig (2025 LHP, Marlborough, CT) is an intimidating presence on the mound and he went right to work, attacking hitters with a fastball that bumped 83 mph and missed plenty of bats, generating nice running life to the arm side on the pitch.

Batting Practice Highlights

9/17/2022

Fayz Baig (2025 LHP, Marlborough, CT) is a strongly built right-handed stick who knows how to use that strength in his swing, showing jump off of the barrel when squared to all parts of the field, especially when working on a linear path.

Langdon Hazen (2025 RHP, Underhill, VT) shows quickness in his swing with a tight turn and fast hands, showing flashes of the type of contact and strength he possesses and should unlock more moving forward.

Jasper Davis (2024 OF, Sleepy Hollow, NY) does a nice job of staying short to the baseball and swings with intent through the zone, generating nice carry off of the barrel when working to his pull side.

Cesar Gonzalez (2024 C, Springfield, MA) impressed with his arm strength behind the plate during drills and continued to do so with the bat, impacting the baseball hard to all parts of the field with quickness/strength in his hands, uncoiling well into contact.

Luke Williams (2026 SS, Murrysville, PA) took one of the more consistent rounds of batting practice on the day, showing fast hands with real intent on each swing, creating some backspin with carry to the pull side while also showing the ability to go the other way.

Aniel Del Orbe (2023 OF, New York, NY) has fast hands and a strong frame, already showing the ability to turn on the baseball with authority but also drive it the other way. He'll only continue to unlock even more strength with more lower half implemented but there's no mistaking the strength he's already showing.

Owen Mongeon (2026 OF, Shrewsbury, MA) stays rather short to the ball with his swing path and did a nice job of working on a linear swing path, creating steady contact to the middle and pull side parts of the field.

TJ Messina (2023 2B, Greenwich, CT) brings his athleticism to the box where he shows looseness in his hands and a short path overall, working on a linear path through the zone while showing comfort turning on the ball to his pull side.

Owen Palmer (2025 SS, Woodbury, CT)showed flashes of strength throughout his round of BP as he did a nice job of generating lift at the point of contact, elevating the ball with intent.

Brian Stone (2026 OF, New York, NY) is another class of 2026 player in attendance and showed a simple stroke in the box, staying loose with his hands while creating some extension and separation out front at the point of contact.
