Nate Snead (2022 RHP, South Milwaukee, WI) started on the bump for the Gold Team and collected five strikeouts in two innings. The right-hander utilizes a smooth and fluid delivery with advanced arm speed, and he topped out at 92 mph in this one. His curveball was working well, showing 11-5 shape with depth and sharp action. It's easy to project on the athleticism, and Snead certainly has a high ceiling moving forward.

Cade Obermueller (2022 LHP, Iowa City, IA) was lights out for the Gold Team, as he threw a quick and efficient two innings, using less than 30 pitches in total. The delivery and the arm are loose and athletic and easy to project on, and he ran his fastball up to 91 mph today. The lefty creates a tough angle and some deception by throwing across his body from a lower three-quarters slot. To make things even harder for opposing hitters, he possesses a potential plus slider with sharp/late sweep across the zone.

Brayden Marks (2022 RHP, Elkhorn, WI) showcased an impressive four-pitch mix with advanced pitchability, as each of his offerings had substantial movement with good command. The big 6-foot-6 right hander has a clean and polished delivery with a lot to like moving forward, and he sat in the upper 80's, topping out at 89 mph. He struck out four opposing batters in his two innings of work.

Justin Hackett (2022 RHP, Winterset, IA) was utterly dominant in his start for the Black Team, as he struck out the side in his two innings pitched. He flashed two potentially plus pitches, with a fastball that sat 90-92 mph and a hammer, 12-6 shaped curveball with significant depth and downer action. His fastball showed great ride through the zone, and he collected tons of swing and miss with when he challenged high. The development of his changeup was also quite notable, making for an impressive third offering.

Tyler Deleskiewicz (2022 RHP, Genoa City, WI) is an intriguing arm with an unconventional delivery. The big 6-foot-5 right-hander slings it from a low three-quarters and creates plenty of deception/funk, making for an uncomfortable at bat. To make things even more difficult, he sat 88-90 mph and featured an impressive slider substantial sweep across the zone. He generated swing and miss with both pitches and showed the ability to locate his fastball to both halves of the plate.

Aaron Savary (2022 RHP, Dubuque, IA) has been the model of consistency during the Spring, and he continued that trend today by striking out five of the seven batters he faced, while throwing just 25 pitches to do so. The Iowa commit is as clean and polished as they come on the mound, and he ran his fastball up to 91 mph in this one. The breaking ball was excellent as well, showing 11-5 shape with good depth and two-plane movement.

Carter Gallagher (2022 SS, Waterloo, IA) battled through a couple of tough at bats to earn himself two clean singles on the day. He was the only player to get a hit off of Snead, as he led of the game with a solid two-strike base knock up the middle. He would collect another well-struck single up the middle in his last at bat of the day, this time jumping all over a 1-0 fastball. Gallagher has a smooth right-handed swing with good speed on the base paths, giving him a prototypical top-of-the-order profile.

Jake Krause (2022 OF, Grapevine, TX) also got on base twice for the Black Team, collecting two infield singles on the day. Krause showed good bat-to-ball skills and a contact oriented approach, taking full advantage of his elite speed. If he can put something on the ground and make the infielder range to either side to get it, he has a good chance to beat it out.

Batting Practice Highlights

5/8/2022

Nicholas Badillo (2022, Mohegan Lake, NY) showed impressive tools at the plate during his batting practice round.  He has an easy operation and is consistently on balance.  He has a line drive approach, and his strength allows him to leverage the ball deep into the gap.

Gable Mitchell (2022, Iowa City, IA) is a switch hitter that has a simple and smooth swing from both sides of the plate.  He has quick hands and makes consistent line drive contact.  He also showed the ability to generate power when he gets a pitch he likes over the middle of the plate.

Justin Roulston (2022, Los Angeles, CA) has quick hands through the zone and fires his lower half well.  He showed the ability to be consistently on time and to hit the ball hard where it is pitched.  He can also impact the ball out in front of the plate and leverage it into the gaps.

Tommy Specht (2022, Dubuque, IA) has a mature approach at the plate and keeps the operation extremely simple.  He has an easy swing that allows him to consistently be on time and to line balls to all parts of the field.  He stays on plane and works through the baseball with his lower half well.

Abner Aquiles Cera (2022, New Hope, DR) brought serious power to the plate during batting practice today. He launched multiple balls deep over the fence and into neighboring houses yards.  He has impressive strength and uses it efficiently, firing his lower half and creating tons of separation with his upper body.

Connor Jenkins (2022, Festus, MO) is a presently strong athlete that swings with intent and impacts the ball out in front of the plate.  He pairs his strong frame with quick hands that allow him to punish balls, especially to the pull side of the field.

Kellen Strohmeyer (2022, Dubuque, IA) has a simple approach at the plate and is always on time with the pitch.  He uses a small stride for timing and shows the ability to barrel up a pitch in any location at the plate.  He has quick hands that lead to solid power and has a frame to add more strength to an already strong body.

Rocko Brzezniak (2022, Matawan, NJ) has fast hands through the zone and generates tons of bat speed at the plate.  He has a rotational swing and creates plenty of separation that allows him to power the ball when he makes contact out in front of the plate.  He left no doubt about a home run with the last swing of his round.

Reese Moore (2022, Van Meter, IA) used his explosive hips and strong lower body to generate power during his round.  He has a pull approach and pairs that with a slightly uphill swing, looking to leverage the ball deep into the outfield.  He did a nice job of staying on balance during his round.

Blake Guerin (2022, Shoreview, MN) has an extra-large frame with tons of raw power potential that he put on display today, launching several home runs deep over the left field fence.  His swing is longer which allows him to leverage the ball into the gaps and easily send home runs out to left.
